Holiday 2018 Gift Guide - All About the Lips*

The Holiday Season is here and one of the things I get asked most is what should I get for so and so, at this or that price point. What I started doing, were gift guides - and instead of bulking everything together into one guide, I thought it would be best to do separate ones for different categories so that .I can break things down into different price points as well. If you're interested in seeing what recommendations I would make for lip products, then keep on reading below!

Lip Gift Sets - Drugstore:
1.  Physicians Formula - Color Me Healthy Lip Set ~ This set is as good as you can get when it comes to a drugstore set! You get a big range of colors to choose from, natural to bold and is versatile as well. This is a liquid lipstick set, however it contains a gloss transformer that can easily be layered with the liquid lip to create a gloss. It's bene sold-out in a lot of places that I checked online, but it retails for about $14.99 usd, which is a steal!

2. QUO - Metallic Lip set ~ Metallic Lips are on trend right now, and if you want your go at it - might I suggest this trio from Quo. Again, with a nice range of colors you can try it out and see what works with you and whether you want to purchase more!

3. Burt's Bees - Beeswax Bounty Set ~ Winter = Dry = Parched and flakey lips. Everyone needs a balm so what I like to do is buy a few of these sets, and just add one in each of my friend's gift bags as a nice add-on. Everyone needs more balms, to keep in their purse, car or office drawer.

4. PIXI Beauty - MatteLast Liquid Lip ~ I had written a blog post about this previously - these can be purchased seperately and be added as a stocking stuffer for your friends. It's comfortable and wears well on the lips!

Lip Gift Sets - High End:
1. Shiseido - ModernMatte Powder Lipstick Expressive Deluxe Mini Set - Everything about this packaging is goals and luxe! From the gorgeous print of the Shieido paper packaging outside, to the thick plastic case that houses the five lipsticks, everything about this just shows high quality. The lipsticks within are pigmented and smooth and apply like a dream and dries to a powder matte finish that isn't drying. This is a must buy!

2. Marc Jacobs - On The Dot Holiday Lipstick Set - These lip crayons are pigmented and offer a glossy finish. I have a few of these in full size and absolutely love them and wear it quite often. I will do a swatch post of them later on!

Lip Balms/Treatments:
The following are perfect stocking stuffer gifts for those people in your life who do not wear alot of make-up but go for that natural look. Also, you can never go wrong with some balms or tinted balms!

1. Fresh Beauty - Zodiac Sugar Lip Treatments - I use the Fresh Beauty balm every winter it helps cure my dry and chapped lips, Fresh Beauty recently launched some customized ones with zodiac symbols on it - what better way to add a special touch to something for a loved one?

2. Stila - Color Balm Lipstick (Misty) - These balms have such a subtle tint and smell very faintly of sweet peppermint and vanilla. I really like the sheer wash of color to these and they come in a few colors. My favorite one is Misty which is a baby pink tint that just makes your lips look healthy and plumps it a bit with the little bit of peppermint (but you wont feel it tingle).

3. Givenchy - Le Rouge Perfecto (No.1 Perfect Pink) - If you want to impress that someone special in your life and make them feel real special - get them the ultimate luxury lip balm. The Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto is classy all the way - from the sleek barrel to the pebbled leather-like packaging just completes this. I love this one in specific because it reacts to your own pH levels so everyone has their own shade of pink :)

4. Clarins - Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector (05 Candy Shimmer) - When I was in my teens I saved my money to buy these babies. It smells wonderful, feels great on the lips, moisturizes it and gives it a glossy look WITHOUT the sticky heavy finish. You need this. Period.

Liquid Lipsticks/Glosses:
1.  Lancome - L'absolu Lacquer Lip Gloss (468 Rose Revolution) - This is a tinted gloss that is sheer to medium buildable. Tints are great because even if most of the gloss comes off, it will leave behind some color on your lips so you do not look completely pale (like I do when I don't have some color on my face!).

2. YSL - Tatouage Couture Metallics (102 Iron Pink Spirit) - I have written a few posts about the YSL Tatouage on my blog and there is a reason. This feels like water on the lips, is ultra pigmented, and just sits comfortably on the lips all day. I really spoiled myself and bought a few last winter after being sent some for PR and have no regrets!

3. Smashbox - Always On Liquid Lipstick (Bawse) - If you are looking for a true liquid lip that is not drying and has a matte finish, the Smashbox ones feel like a whipped mousse and is ultra pigmented. I have written about these here as well!

4. Marc Jacobs - Enamoured Hi-Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer (Shine A Light) - If you are looking for something limited edition to this Holiday season, then you need this - It is a gloss with a gold and pink reflect that is very subtle and shows when the light hits your lips.

Lipsticks:
1. Tarte - Color Splash Lipstick (Salt Lyfe)  - 22 shades in total, these lipsticks are very moisturizing and pigmented. It has a satin like finish and is very buttery and weightless on the lips, not settling in fine lines.
2. Charlotte Tilbury - Matte Revolution (Amazing Grace) - If you're looking for something a bit more luxurious, then you have the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks - they have tons of lip products but their mattes are beautiful and they have alot of classic colors that are elegant and natural.

3. Cle De Peau - Lipstick Cashmere (504 Follow Me) - Saving the best for last, is the limited edition Cle De Peau lipstick that is part of their Wonderland theme. This lipstick is not your everyday lipstick, its 2-3x the price of a regular one and honestly, its the ultimate luxury. You need to feel it to know the difference. Everyone should own one of these in their lifetime!

I hope that this lip product specific guide will help you with your gifting selections this holiday season! I'll be doing a few more soon, one on home scents/fragrances and not sure what else yet ~ I'll gladly take any suggestions!

Until next time, XO - M.
