Halloween #GlamtoGhoul 2016 Makeup Looks with Make Up For Ever Cosmetics*

I have been so addicted in watching the show Skin Wars on Netflix lately that I decided to channel my inner creativity into creating some Halloween looks this year. I have always wanted to do this and wanted to invest in the Make Up For Ever - 12 Flash Color Case (900 - Artistic) which can be purchased here. It is quite an investment at $110 however this is an ultra pigmented, cream based formula that you can use on your face, lips and eyes - fully multi-functional. You can also use a metal spatula, which is what I did, to scoop some of the colors out onto a palette to custom mix your own colors for your art piece.

I have collaborated with Make Up For Ever Canada to create three different looks for you this year! 1) Ventriloquist Doll 2) A true Glam to Ghoul - Gory Scab look on my face and 3) A sickly infected bite/scab turning me slowly into a zombie.

To help get those brain juices going, they were also sweet enough to send me some delicious Halloween-themed gummies from Squish! MmmM....I know they're candies, but still, eating a giant spider gummy still makes me nervous!

Last year, I had attended the MUFE Halloween Glam to Ghoul event at Sephora Eaton Center and learnt a bit about FX make-up. Taking what little knowledge I had, I decided to purchase some liquid latex, fake blood and do some FX Halloween Makeup on my own. To create the puss-like texture and coloring, I mixed some red, blue and yellow together.

Nail art made easy with MoYou London now available at Trade Secrets!*

MoYou London, canadian beauty blogger, mo you london trade secrets, trade secrets nails, mo you london swatch and demo, mo you london tutorial, toronto blogger, toronto, toronto bloggers, canadian bloggers, beauty blog, beauty bloggers, nail tutorial.

Ever wanted to explore your creative side through having customized nail art instead of opting for a one-color manicure? While I am the type to love a perfect coat of polish (one color, glossy, classic) sometimes on special occasions (or for the fun of it), I do like jazzing up my nails and adding some design and flare. While traditionally you had to visit a professional nail salon to get this done, or perhaps buying pre-printed nail decals to apply to your nails, there are now stamping plates you can purchase which contains various designs that is bound to meet everyone's individual style and taste.

I present to you, Mo You London! now available at Trade Secrets. Template plates start at $13.95 and polishes at$9.95. Kits that niclude the scraper, stamp, template and a polish are $29.95 (prices are subject to change)

Your metal templates come protected with a blue seal on top. To use, make sure you peel it off first so that the polish has somewhere to sit in to imprint your design on the rubber applicator pad.  Below I will show you a step by step with pictures on the application process - it's really simple!

I highly recommend you to put a piece of paper towel under your metal template or polishes as it can get messy the first few times you use this. In addition, even though you have perfected the application process, in order to make sure you have clean prints from the templates, you have to make sure you have a clean stamp and scraper each time (before you scrape). That is where the paper towel comes in handy. I always wipe any excess from the scraper onto the paper towel right after each application on each nail. It ensures no overlay of different designs or blurriness.

MoYou London, canadian beauty blogger, mo you london trade secrets, trade secrets nails, mo you london swatch and demo, mo you london tutorial, toronto blogger, toronto, toronto bloggers, canadian bloggers, beauty blog, beauty bloggers, nail tutorial.

Start with a base coat of polish on yuor nails and make sure it is dried completely before attempting to stamp your nail art on as you do not want to ruin the polish. I typically only put nail polish on half of the template area I like to use for my nail design as I do not want to waste polish since the majority of it gets scraped off anyways. By only applying polish on half of the area I need it to be, when the scraper scrapes aside the polish, it just naturally sinks into the template leaving you with less wasted polish - (hope I'm making sense here).

Once the polish is scraped off, you can then press the stamp over the design area you want on your nails, and then you can directly then stamp your own nail and the design will be transferred over.

You will most likely get stamped around your cuticle area (as seen in the pic below) - just take a q-tip, small brush and some acetone and it'll easily come off.  Allow the newly stamped designs a minute or two to dry and then follow up with a top coat. Voila - you're done!

You may wonder if you really need to buy the polishes from MoYou London to do these designs, well no you don't have to, but the formulation of these polishes offered by MoYou are thicker in consistency and more pigmented, which allows for your designs to pop and stand out more on top of your base coat or natural nail.

I had a lot of fun creating these designs and using this nail kit. Don't worry, practice makes perfect. If you do make an accident, you can quickly take some nail polish remover and gently wipe the surface of your nail before the design dries and it should not affect your pre-dried base coat.

In addition, if you're feeling adventurous you can also add some extra designs onto these stamps - you can add some nail jewels or glitter lets say on the flower designs to really jazz them up!

Until next time, XO-M!

LUSH Halloween 2016 - Lord of Misrule, Sparkly Pumpkin, Monster's Ball and Autumn Leaf*

I was introduced to Lush about 5 years ago by my .... then hairdresser. Yes you heard right, my past hairdresser. She heard me telling her that I had lost a lot of density in my hair and volume and even had some bald spots developing and was feeling quite horrible and self conscious about it. She had told me that another client of hers who was suffering from a similar problem actually started using a specific product from Lush called a Shampoo Bar and wasn't sure which one it was, but it helped her grow back a lot of her hair. Having tried a lot of different types of solutions in the past and not having any luck I figured what's one more. Well, let's just say that it was love at first bar of New! Solid Shampoo Bar. I have an article about it actually if you'd like to read about it (note: this bar is not the NEW bar, it's actually a discontinued bar which I literally bought 6 to stock up one, however NEW is just as good and I've used about 5 of those already as well). Also, if you wanted to see my other articles, feel free to search them on my blog - I've included a Lush haul post and previous empties.

Anyways, long enough intro! Onto the product review of some of the products from the LUSH Halloween 2016 products. I was sent four different things to try and I will go into detail below about each one.

This bath bomb totally screams fall - when dropped in running water in your bath a swirl of colors intertwine in the water to deliver a green, yellow then finally a pumpkin orange shade that just says autumn. This bath bomb contains bergamot, neroli and sandalwood, which helps to melt your stress away after a long day at work.

I give this a 4 out of 5!

This is my favorite shower cream product. It used to be Olive Branch when I first was introduced to Lush 5 years ago, then my tastes drifted to Its Raining Men but now that's a little too sweet for me - that's more for a treat once in a while. However, Lord of Misrule... I can use all day every day. It contains the scent of black pepper, patchouli and vanilla - a perfect blend of sweet and spicy. I just can't get enough of this and will probably pick another one up soon! P.S. this leaves your skin super soft too. Bonus!

This is 5/5!!

Sparkly Pumpkin Bubble Bar - For those of you who haven't used a bubble bar before, note you typically do not need to put an entire one in at once as it literally froths up and melts and forms a lot of bubbles as the water keeps on running. Always go a little at a time or else you will find yourself with a bath tub overflowing with bubbles before you even get in. This one leaves your bath water orange and a swirl of golden sparkles because of the glitter. The scent is citrusy and I find that it really opens up your nasal passage because of the junperberry oil. This does leave your body with some glitter and well ... the downside is your tub will also be coated in it - so you have to be sure to rinse off with water after. (3/5).

Monsters' Ball Bath Bomb - Ah! This bath bomb is the most beautiful in my books - for some reason, it reminds me of Alice in Wonderland and the Cheshire Cat when it poofs and comes out in the woods - a pure blend of pink, purple and blue just frothing up and bubbling, swirling around together. It smells of lime and neroli and the scent lingers on your skin for a long time. It's fruity but not too sweet or overwhelming. a must try! Make sure you pay attention to your tub as the eyes of the monster float around after your bath bomb has dissolved and you can save the eyes to moisturize your drier bits afterwards - for me, it's the elbows! It's like the body moisturizing bars Lush has. (4.5/5)

I know that some people think that LUSH is a very overwhelming store to go to as the scents are really strong and you can definitely spot or smell a LUSH even before you see one. However, please note that they only use the best of products - they use real fragrant oils and quality ingredients and everything is hand made. I would suggest searching their website and browsing around first to make note of what you think you will like, therefore you won't feel overwhelmed when you get in.

A few of my favorites would be: NEW Shampoo Bar, Ocean Salt, Buffy Bar, Lord of Misrule, Butter Bear, Honey Bee and Big Blue (even though it's hard to clean up as it contains real seaweed).

I can't wait to see what's in store for Christmas and to try them out!

Until next time, XO - M.

All new make-up & the Bobbi Brown Bright Pink Lip Pencil for October Breast Cancer Month*

Neutral Eye w. Bold Pink Lip Tutorial ft. all new make-up (review included)!, All new make-up & the Bobbi Brown Bright Pink Lip Pencil for October Breast Cancer Month*, Joe Fresh - Neutral Eyeshadow Palette - $14, Vichy - Teint Ideal Bronzer - Ultra-Natural Sun Kissed Glow - $36, Estee Edit - The Barest Blush - Coy Coral, Bobbi Brown - Lip Pencil - Bright Pink, RMS - Contour Bronzer, Elizabeth Arden - Beautiful Color Bold Defining 24 HR Liquid Eye Liner - Dark Valentine, Estee Lauder - Double Wear Stick- 3W1 Tawny , Essence - I love color intensifying primer, Dermalogica - Hydrablur Primer, canadian beauty blogger network, toronto blogger, canadian blogger, drugstore makeup, full face makeup using new makeup

Being a beauty blogger allows me the wonderful opportunity to try out new make-up as they are released. Sometimes, I try to keep up with the products that are sent to me, however it does get overwhelming sometimes and I just can't seem to catch-up. This is why I decided to do this week's Make-up Monday post differently. I am going to use some of the products that are sent to me and collectively do a tutorial/review of them at the same time! I hope you like this idea, I've seen it floating around on Youtube sometimes!

Neutral Eye w. Bold Pink Lip Tutorial ft. all new make-up (review included)!, All new make-up & the Bobbi Brown Bright Pink Lip Pencil for October Breast Cancer Month*, Joe Fresh - Neutral Eyeshadow Palette - $14, Vichy - Teint Ideal Bronzer - Ultra-Natural Sun Kissed Glow - $36, Estee Edit - The Barest Blush - Coy Coral, Bobbi Brown - Lip Pencil - Bright Pink, RMS - Contour Bronzer, Elizabeth Arden - Beautiful Color Bold Defining 24 HR Liquid Eye Liner - Dark Valentine, Estee Lauder - Double Wear Stick- 3W1 Tawny , Essence - I love color intensifying primer, Dermalogica - Hydrablur Primer, canadian beauty blogger network, toronto blogger, canadian blogger, drugstore makeup, full face makeup using new makeupProducts used in this tutorial include:
Joe Fresh - Neutral Eyeshadow Palette - $14
Finding a quality eyeshadow at the drugstore is hard enough, let alone an entire palette. However, I highly suggest you to pick this up if you are either on a budget, starting out with make-up or want something just for your travel make-up pouch. The shades offered in this palette are all neutral - you can create a day time look and easily convert it to a smokey eye. The shadows deliver color, but are not ultra pigmented - these give you a nice wash of color to your lids. I would suggest you to buy this and I would definitely pack this to go! $14 for 12 shadows is a steal!

Vichy - Teint Ideal Bronzer - Ultra-Natural Sun Kissed Glow - $36Although they say that this is suitable for all skin tones - light to dark, I find myself having a bit of trouble really getting the golden J-LO glow bronze to come through. This provides a very subtle bronzing to the skin, I like to use this on my upper cheekbones however if you're one of those who like to contour with their bronzer, this would not be for you as it is a true warm toned light bronze.

Neutral Eye w. Bold Pink Lip Tutorial ft. all new make-up (review included)!, All new make-up & the Bobbi Brown Bright Pink Lip Pencil for October Breast Cancer Month*, Joe Fresh - Neutral Eyeshadow Palette - $14, Vichy - Teint Ideal Bronzer - Ultra-Natural Sun Kissed Glow - $36, Estee Edit - The Barest Blush - Coy Coral, Bobbi Brown - Lip Pencil - Bright Pink, RMS - Contour Bronzer, Elizabeth Arden - Beautiful Color Bold Defining 24 HR Liquid Eye Liner - Dark Valentine, Estee Lauder - Double Wear Stick- 3W1 Tawny , Essence - I love color intensifying primer, Dermalogica - Hydrablur Primer, canadian beauty blogger network, toronto blogger, canadian blogger, drugstore makeup, full face makeup using new makeup

Estee Edit is killing it with their releases this year - from their shadow crayon, metallic cream shadow and pigment to the hydrate and glow. I have loved all of the items I've tried this year from them and this is on the same level. It delivers a beautiful wash of color to my cheeks that lasts all day. This is a must buy! It's finely milled and the coral is lovely. There is a gold design on the top but just so you know, it is just a design overlay spray - it disappears after the first use.

$10 from every purchase of this lip pencil duo from celebrity makeup artist Bobbi Brown will go to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). For a full list of other products participating in the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, click here. The lip glides effortlessly on the lip and it stays put from the moment you put it on til you eat your next meal. It is also very pigmented as I can apply it to the whole lip and it didn't even make a dent. It's matte without being drying either.

I was very intimidated by this initially as it is quite a dark greyish toned brown - it is a cream based product that you can apply on with your fingers. When blended out, it gives you the cheekbones that you've always wanted. I used a duo fiber brush to apply the product and blended it out with a Real Techniques sponge.

I have mixed feelings about this product, the brush is ultra fine so I highly recommend this for graphic liners. However, as a day to day liner I am not too sure if it works for me. Because it is so micro-thin and almost has a plastic-like pointy applicator (which is flexible) as opposed to a brush tip, I found that it is rather harder to navigate then normal. I personally prefer a brush tip so I will be saving this for when I decide to do any graphic designs on my liner. The pigment is ultra dark and pigmented and does not rub off throughout the day. When you apply two coats on, it also does not smear.

I've always wanted to try the Double Wear foundation but found it too pigmented, too full coverage and too cake-face for me. At the preview event, I was told that this foundation is the lighter version of the Double Wear foundation in a bottle. It also comes in a twist-up cushion applicator that allows you to bring this around for travel. You twist it to dispense the product and the one good thing is if you twist it the OTHER way, the product actually goes back inside the tube - which saves you from having to waste the product. I usually like to dot the product on with the cushion to different areas of my face before blending it out with the cushion. The cushion is also removable if you choose to wash it like you do a make-up sponge. In all honesty, this will only be a product I take with me when I travel - I do not think that this is something I will gravitate to on a daily basis as it made my nose look quite oily after 2ish hours. I MUCH prefer the Estee Lauder Youth Perfectionist Serum - that one is my favorite from Estee.

Essence - I love color intensifying primer
This comes in a doe-foot applicator which makes for an easy application process. A little goes a long way and this product has helped my shadow stay on longer and for the color to blend out easier and I haven't had creasing yet. Especially with this being from the drugstore - I say YES! Pick it up!

This primer has a steep price tag yes, but for me personally I can use this on my no make-up makeup days. It contains self-adjusting tinted particles in there which help to blur out your skin when applied. It also helps to smoothen out the larger pores around my nose. I usually like to use this on its own as opposed to layering foundation on top. As you can see in the picture below, after I applied the primer, it does leave color on my fingertips and when wiped on the make-up remover cloth you see it there.

I hope you enjoyed this week's Makeup Monday post in a new different format. I wanted to find a way again, to use up most of the products sent to me for review and I thought that this would just be a great way to incorporate a review and demo all at the same time.

It is also a wonderful opportunity to showcase this beautiful lip color from Bobbi Brown for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. October is almost over so please go out and support, make a donation. If you want to help and have also wanted a reason to buy some makeup - make sure you check out this list to see if you find something you like that can benefit both you and the foundation!

I was contacted last month to review some products from Maison Jacynthe - it is a 100% natural skincare line founded by Jacynthe René who is an actress and producer. She has an online magazine (www.jmagazine.ca) and has published three books in the last 4 years. Jacynthe has been featured in Women’s HealthClin D’oeilLaPresse, etc. Nearly 60,000 people in Quebec turn to Jacynthe and her team of experts for advice on health, detox diet, and natural beauty.
Last year, Maison Jacynthe joined PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies Program as one of their cruelty-free companies. Also, Jacynthe's latest book Délices Détox became best seller after being on the shelves for a few days only.

In addition to make-up products, she also has a range of skincare products that is free of chemicals, petroleum by-products, preservatives and synthetic fragrances. They strongly believe in using active ingredients and any products with fragrance is derived from plants and flowers. Their products are cruelty-free and eco-friendly.

I was sent three products to try:
1. Rouge à lèvres (Lipstick) 05 - Pêche de Vigne Mate ($29)
2. Blush - 01 Roméo ($26)

The powders are both very pigmented and finely milled. They are soft and buttery to the touch and definitely packs a punch upon application. I like to use a large fluffy foundation brush to apply the powder foundation to my skin to deliver an even coverage. For the blush, because it is so pigmented, I take a duo fiber brush and literally lightly tap on the product and it's enough to cover both cheeks and deliver a nice flush of color.

The Face Powder is formulated with coffee extracts, babassu butter, macadamia and apricot oils. The Blush is formulated with coffee extracts, corn, macadamia and apricot oils and the lipstick is formulated with candelilla wax to provide a smooth application without drying the lips. It contains abyssinian oil to enhance the color and give you a long-lasting effect.

Thoughts on the line:

Overall:
I appreciate the way they want to reduce the amount of packing used to produce these products. Instead of housing the products in plastic cases, they come in paper packages with a cardboard sleeve that houses the product. You then can either purchase an empty big palette from their website to house your products, or you can plop them into a Z-palette to make your very own customized palette.

Blush:
I thought that this product would be way too dark on me but as you can see in the pictures below, as well as in the swatched product it blends out very nicely to give you a really beautiful wash of terracotta toned hue, perfect for fall.

Compact Powder:
Finely milled and delivers a sheer to medium coverage without looking cakey. Can't ask for more. It leaves behind a smooth satin touch to the skin. It also has a very light scent to it, nothing offensive or too perfumey but if you are truly sensitive to scents just be forewarned.

Lipstick:
This is my favorite product that was sent to me for review. It is a gorgeous coral toned red and really glides on effortlessly on the lips. The pictures below is only with one swatch and it lasted me several hours. Again, this product does have a light scent to it that took about an hour to fade away. However I just love this color so much, its a perfect any season/time shade!

I am actually really interested to try out some of their skincare products in the future as their make-up line has impressed me a lot - but until then....as always, XOXO - M.

IMATS Toronto 2016 Haul

Every fall, IMATS makes it way to Toronto and all beauty lovers and industry professionals have the chance to attend this 2 day event at the Metro Toronto Convention Center to shop at many different vendors (especially at some vendors that are US specific and costs an arm and a leg plus additional customs to ship to Canada). In addition, these vendors often offer discounts and on top of it all, you get the chance to attend different workshops held by industry professionals.

This event is always highly anticipated and the line-ups are INSANE. I usually go right in the morning, but this year since I had the NYX event to go to at night, I decided to spend the entire afternoon with a few of my beauty blogger friends from the Canadian Beauty Blogger Network.

Needless to say, it is quite easy to do some serious damage at IMATS - it is VERY hard to just come out with buying ONE thing and I know from experience. In years past, I would buy TONS of stuff butt this year, I decided to just stick to a few things, things I've wanted to try out for a while now but refused to pay the extra shipping + customs/duties charges for.

I purchased 2 of the highly raved about Morphe palettes - each palette was $25 - not bad considering each palette gives you 35 shadows. I highly recommend this palette to anyone! The pigments are really great and they are buttery smooth.

The palette above is 35P

This one is 35F

From  Morphe, I also purchased a brush that was great for contouring and setting the undereye.

Finally, the last thing I purchased is a bit controversial as there is so much drama and hate/dislike over the conduct of this company. However I've heard such amazing things about them and well, I really wanted to try these liquid lipsticks for myself  and see if they are worth it.

Let's be honest - the pigmentation is great, the colors are beautiful...however, I'm not a fan of them only because when they are dried down, the scent of them is quite repulsive. It smells of iron...metally.. .. blech! Not sure how to counteract it...

If you've never attended IMATS before, I do suggest you to attend it at least once if you're a make up lover!

Until next time, XO - M.

Tutorial & Review: Relaunch of Guerlain Lingerie De Peau

I am so excited to announce that this Makeup Monday post is in collaboration with Guerlain (such a huge milestone and honor, Thank You Guerlain for this wonderful opportunity!) Guerlain to me, is a brand that is both sophisticated and elegant. It is classy in every way and just makes you feel ultra luxurious. I have used Guerlain skincare and cosmetics for a few years now and in my mind, they can do no wrong. If you long for a classic elegance in your make up looks, then look no further. If you are the type that loves the dramatic, colorful and modern instagram make-up looks than this might not be for you - just being utterly honest. You won't see any 30 pan palettes in neon colors from Guerlain. What you get is beautiful, finely milled and carefully chosen colors that will compliment you.

Guerlain had generously sent me a few products to try out for this Makeup Monday post including the new (relaunch) of their foundation, Lingerie De Peau. The products sent were:
1. Lingerie De Peau in 03W - $69
2. The Foundation Brush - $53
3. Palette 5 Couleurs - 03 Coque D'or $69
4. Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Deliciously Shiny Lip Color - 011 Beige Lingerie - $37
5.Radiance Concentrate with Pure Gold Makeup Base - $81 (I had received this in a Guerlain gift bag from an event a few weeks back so I thought that this would be a perfect time to use it)

The concept behind the new relaunch of the Lingerie De Peau foundation is to turn "the dream of a perfect foundation into reality. A product so skin-fusing and natural that it cannot be felt or seen. A universal range now available in 14 shades for every skintone, so every woman can experience natural perfection".

Thoughts: I LOVE this foundation. I am the type of girl that loves a sheer to medium coverage foundation that is easily buildable and is effortless in the application process. I love foundations that make my skin look airbrushed and natural without it looking like I have 10 pounds of make-up on. This foundation does just that! In addition, it leaves a silky satin finish on the face that isn't irritating after a full days wear and it also includes SPF 20 (yay for added skin benefits/protection). I have normal/combination skin (oily T-zone) but this foundation paired with the L'or Primer gave me a full days wear. Towards the 8th hour, I had to pat my nose with a tissue once to remove the excess oil but never once did I have to reapply or powder my nose.

This beautiful pink foundation brush paired with a gold handle has rounded bristles that is soft yet dense enough for even foundation application on the face. It also comes with a washable sleeve to effectively protect your brush when travelling.

Here is a before and after of me with only one layer of the Lingerie de Peau foundation. As you can see, it has seamlessly been applied to my face and has blurred out any skin discolorations and imperfections, especially around the eyes, nose and chin area where my skin is a bit darker and uneven. I had actually followed the online Ideal Foundation Guide here to pick out the right color for me, and I think it did an excellent job! So if you're interested in picking out a color or finding out which foundation is right for you - give that link a go to see!

My eyelook is created using the Palette 5 Couleurs in Coq D'or - It includes a plastic cover (seen below) that acts as a guide for you. It helps you create either either a nude/natural look or a smoky one with the last two shadows on the right. I chose to take advantage of the beautiful dark olive forest green shade all over the lid (shade 5), and then use shade 4 on the outer corners. Then I used shade 3 in the crease to blend out any harsh lines. I have to say that I do wish the pigmentation of shade 4 and 5 was a bit stronger. In the look, I had just used all the shades on its own, however I found that if I used a colored shadow base first, the colors popped alot more. Therefore, next time, I think I will put a colored shadow base on first - then pack on the green and brown. For everyday, Shades 1-3 offers a beautiful wash of color to the lids, perfect for my work make-up look. Nothing too dramatic, just enough to offer a brightness to my lids and make me look more wide awake :)

Lastly, after applying brows, liner and mascara and a bit of concealer, I used the Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Deliciously Shiny Lip Color in 011 Beige Lingerie. It's a wonderful "my lips but better" shade. It is a rosey nude with a slight shine to it - I can wear this easily any time, even to work and without the mirror too as it is very forgiving.

Ah, I forgot to mention - the L'or Primer offers a luminescence to my skin and made it feel tightened and gave my skin a smoothened canvas to work on, I now totally get what the hype around this primer is from YouTubers like Tati!

I am so looking forward to trying out other items from Guerlain, especially the concealer and also am excited to see what other new products are launching!

Until next time, XO - M.
