My Ceramic Glaze Collection + Swatches*

I was fortunate enough to be sent a generous collection of Ceramic Glaze polishes to swatch and review for you guys. I have been really enjoying writing directly onto the photos to simplify the process and will also include my comments on how I feel about each polish and how many coats it takes to reach the desired consistency.

I thoroughly enjoyed these polishes - the ones that have a sheer-like formula, like Heavenly, Strawberries N' Milk, Sunset Beach, Island Getaway and Santorini Blue lasted a full week approximately without chipping. The ones that are more solid colored, meaning the ones like Pure, Tropical Guava, I'm on Island Time, Newly Minted, Smells like Rain lasts about 4-5 days before it usually chips on me.

These are the number of coats required to achieve an even coat/layer on the following colors:
One Coat - Heavenly, Tropical Guava, Solar Radiance, Shell Me About It.
Two Coats - Pure, Strawberries N Milk, I'm on Island Time, Belle Ami.

One Coat - Lychee Cocktail, Sunset Beach, Exotic Dragon Fruit, Island Getaway, Papaya Sunrise, Sweet Temptation, Russian Rouge
Two Coats - Forever In Love

One Coat - Sexy Stiletto, Santorini Blue
Two Coats - Newly Minted, Smells Like Rain, Watermelon Cooler, Raisin Biscotti, Little Black Dress
Three Coats - Mermaid's Tale (it took three coats and was still a bit patchy). Also, this dries to a matte finish.

I store my polishes in this beautiful acrylic organizer that was sent to me for review by Nur Besten. It is actually really reasonable in price too, it's about $20 cad and I highly recommend this. You do have to assemble this yourself, but it's high quality and sturdy. It holds about 42 bottles of nail polish.

I'd love to know which is your favorite color above, or if there's one not shown here please let me know!
Until next time, XO - M.

My go-to products for my Holiday Hairstyle*

I know that I labelled this as my Holiday Hairstyle must haves, but to be completely honest, I constantly rely on these products (or fairly similar ones) to give me some added volume and texture that waves alone can't deliver since I have such fine hair.

I decided to try a brand new layout / way of listing out the products I use and to let you know what I like about them by directly writing on the photos. This way, it's more visual and seems to be easier for you to see the info as opposed to reading all my thoughts in paragraph after paragraph format, which can be a bit overwhelming.

Here is the line-up, from left to right:
1. Matrix Biolage Volume Bloom Shampoo
2. Matrix Biolage Volume Bloom Conditioner
3. Wella - Sugar Lift
4. Nioxin - Therma Activ Protector
5. IGK - Beach Club Texture Spray
6. Puff Me

...and voila! Here is my hair washed, prepped and styled :) Sometimes I will add some waves to my hair as well but usually I just leave it like this to avoid taking unnecessary heat to my hair.

Until next time, XO - M.

Gold Foil Eye-Shadow ft. MAC Diwali Palette and Urban Decay Liquid Moondust Cream Shadow*

Over a month or two ago, I was sent the Diwali Palette from MAC to review and I have finally had the chance to create a look for you guys. I tried to use as many of the colors possible in the palette to create this look and drew inspiration from the look of gold foil on water. I knew I really wanted a green/blue gradient look, and it had initially looked a bit plain. I then took the Urban Decay liquid shadow to create the gold foil on the lids.

Products Used:
- Too Faced - Chocolate Bronzer
- Stila Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector - Medium
- Rodial - Banana powder
- NARS concealer - Macadamia
- Urban Decay - Liquid Moondust Eyeshadow - Zap
- NYX Butter Gloss - Angel Food Cake
- MAC - Diwali Palette
- NARS blush in Exposed
- KOKO Lashes - KOKO
- Esquido lash Glue

I first primed the lid, took #1) and used it on my crease and blended it out. I followed by placing #2 in the inner half of the lid and outer half with #3. When I have packed on enough of the colors to my liking, I applied the UD Liquid Moondust shadow in ZAP randomly over the lid to create a gold-foil pattern. Lastly, I used #4 on my brow bone, #5 on the inner third of the lower lash line, #6 on the middle lash line and #7 on the outer third to give it more dimension.

Hope that all of you have had a wonderful Holiday Season!
Until next time, XO - M.

2016 Holiday Gift Guide: Stocking Stuffers!

I have been loving to create these Holiday Gift Guides for you guys! And while the last two contained a mix of higher priced items, I think that my Stocking Stuffers edition will suit most peoples' budget without breaking the bank :)

The first batch of items centers around the hands - The manicure travel set from Avon (that I've recently reviewed here), paired with a polish from Essence Cosmetics for around $2 is a good set. Pick a neutral color as it is most likely to compliment people's tastes. If you want to add a bit of luxury and spoil them, include a bottle of high-end polish, something that most people won't do. I mean, people won't typically spend $20 on a bottle of polish so people seeing that in their stocking will surely surprise them. Lastly, if you really want to top it all off, you can include a small bottle of hand and nail cream so they can include it in their purse, take it on the go or keep it at work on their desk.

Next - the focus is around lips. from lip balms to glosses, lipsticks and liquid lipsticks I've got you covered :) EOS lipbalms though not the most moisturizing lipbalm I've ever used sure has some adorable packaging and yummy flavors and scents. For e.g. the three featured are winterberry, passion fruit and my favorite HONEY APPLE!

The next one that I LOVE is the Flawless by Friday Lip Serum - The honey smooths and moisturizes the lips, while the gold increases collagen production to add plumpness to your lips, making them appear more youthful.

This trio of mini liquid lipsticks from Sephora is one of the newer products to launch. There were balms, glosses, and lipsticks - however liquid lipsticks is an ultra pigmented wash of color that dries to a matte or semi-matte finish on your lips. Stila is one of my favorite brands who creates liquid lipsticks, they do not have a weird taste, do not crack when dry on your lips and offer a wide array of wearable colors.

Lastly, for those who are just a lover of the original lipstick - there are these beauties from The Face Shop. I quite enjoy their formula - it is buttery, pigmented and glides on the lips to deliver the perfect amount of color in one swipe. Below features the original lipstick in a bullet and then there's the slim tube as well for those who enjoy a more detailed application.

The one pair of lashes that I loved the most and will continuously repurchase is the pair from Esquido. Yes these lashes are around $35-40 but I have no joke, re-used a pair at least 10+ times and they are still going strong. They are ultra light-weight, thin banned and look so gorgeous and fluttery! They have so many styles to choose from and they even help you select a style perfect for your eye shape - i.e. hooded, down-turned, wide, almond shaped etc.

For those of you who are looking to dabble into aromatherapy or know someone who is interested in a more natural approach and holistic care, I highly recommend products from Saje. Particularly this Pocket Farmacy. This is actually a gift that I am giving someone, I have one of my own in a wooden stand - this one is housed in a small bag that makes it perfect to tuck into your bag/purse etc. My favorite is Stress Release and Peppermint Halo. I apply these to my pressure points  (they are rollerballs) and it really does work, for the Peppermint Halo, I like to run it along the middle to the base of the back of my neck, as well as my temples and it has replaced my need about 80% of the time to take an advil when I have a migraine. I know that aromatherapy may not be for everyone, but I am also the type who believes that you have honestly nothing to lose if you try something new. If you do end up finding something you like, all the better. This is pricy, at about $60 but you can also purchase these individually - but the individual ones are 10ml vs. these ones being 6ml and are priced at $27. So this one is a pretty good way

Lastly, face masks, face masks and MORE FACE MASKS!! There are so many different types from different brands addressing a wide variety of skin concerns. There are ones to help with hydration, brightening, acne-fighting, lifting, tightening etc. These masks are also relatively inexpensive - they range from $3-9 a piece. My favorite brands are attached here - Skin Republic, The Face Shop and  lastly from the brands Innisfree and Mizon.

Guys, I have an amazing chance to offer you a 15% discount code at TakeGoodCare. This is a site where you can purchase Korean skincare products from a huge collection of different brands - I highly suggest that you take advantage of this generous offer now. I do not make any commission off of this, the people at Take Good Care just wanted to give me the chance to offer something to my readers, they are so sweet, so generous and a great company. They take care in packaging your products and they come safe and sound.

Until next time, XO - M.

Too Faced 2016 Holiday Gift Sets and Look/Lip Swatches*

Sorry I've been MIA - I've wanted to get this post up for a few days now, but my food poisoning has really set me back this weekend.

It's no surprise that Too Faced is known for their extremely cute packaging that satisfies every make-up lover's desires. Therefore, it is no surprise that their Holiday 2016 collection is equally as cute! I was sent three items to review:
1. The Grand Hotel Cafe ($62 cad)
2. Merry Kissmas ($32 cad)
...so keep on reading below to see my thoughts, lip swatches and a make-up look I created with these products.

The Grand Hotel Cafe features 3 eyeshadow/cheek palettes that are uniquely scented and a Better Than Sex mascara. In total there are 18 shadows and 3 cheek products - 2 blushes and a bronzer. As noted on the palette covers, it is scented with Peppermint Mocha, Eggnog Latte and Gingerbread Cookie. Each of the palettes are ultra pigmented, blendable and buttery smooth. I used the Peppermint Mocha (a bit out of my comfort zone) to create a look for all of you below.

Below is the Let it Glow set that featured the deluxe size of the Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duo in Rosy Glow, deluxe Love Flush 16-hour Blush in Love Hangover, deluxe Snow Bunny Luminous Bronzer and the ever so cute and super girly heart-shaped flatbuki brush.

This set is perfect for those of you who travel alot or would like something less bulky to carry on-the-go.

The Merry Kissmas set contains four travel-size containers of their best-selling Melted Liquified Long-Wear lipstick in its three different formulas - original, chocolate and matte. They are all really pigmented and one swipe is all it takes. It includes two of their bestselling shades in Chihuahua and Fig plus a new Melted Chocolate shade in Honey. I've always wanted to buy their Melted Matte in Lady Balls and well guess what, there's a travel size in it here. All of them are glossy in finish (obviously except for Lady Balls - which is the Melted Matte). The Melted Chocolate (Honey) is infused with antioxidant-rich cocoa powder and smells like chocolate. All of the Too Faced products that I love are scented with something delicious - it's so dangerous!

Swatches clockwise starting from upper right corner = Lady Balls, Chihuahua, Fig and Honey

Lastly, as promised is the list of products used to create a make-up look for all of you, which is perfect for the holidays!

Until next time, XO - M.

Drugstore anti-aging skincare:

Skincare does not have to cost an arm and a leg, in fact there are ALOT of drugstore skincare items that I still use - actually, that gives me an idea - perhaps I should do a drugstore favorites skincare regiment. For now though, I'll stick to a few things I've found that I'm taking a liking to and think would be a good fit to your gift guide.

Vichy - I have tried many products in their line, my favorite is Idealia Skin sleep and the Normaderm line. In addition, they recently launched make-up items as well.

Nivea - this was a brand I had used as a teen, I remember my grandma used their moisturizer, and this past year I used about 2 bottles of their in-shower moisturizer last winter and will continue to do so this winter! Their Q10 line is a great drugstore anti-aging moisturizer at under $20 each.

Adding hydration to your skincare regiment:
Amore Pacific - Moisture Bound Skin Energy Hydration Delivery System - This mist is packed full of hydrating benefits for your skin. It includes bamboo sap, green tea extract and lotus. The bamboo sap preps the skin to allow for better absorption of the remainder of your skincare products - i.e. serum, moisturizer, eyecream. I mist this all over my face after toner.

Laneige - Brightening Sparkling Water Pop Essence. This mist gives a burst of coolness to your skin. It is infused with 31% mineral-enriched sparkling water to help melt away dead surface skin, delivers ultimate hydration and leaves your skin feeling radiant and fresh.

Canadian Love:

I was introduced to the brand, Flawless by Friday earlier this year when their PR team reached out to me to try out their products. Being a great supporter of Canadian Brands, I immediately said YES and have not looked back. Since I tried their products out, they have expanded tremendously and they are now carried at The Bay and Lord and Taylor!

The one product I love is their Forever Flawless Booster Serum. It made my skin plump, youthful and hydrated. It made for easier and smoother make-up application as well.

I highly suggest that you give this line a go and they even have a coupon code right now, which is MERRYCHRISTMAS for 25% off. I do not make any commission off of this, I just wanted to share it with you guys!

For those who need a little TLC under the eye:

The effects of stress, lack of sleep and age will begin to take its toll and show its effects on your skin and especially your eyes. Whether it be in the form of dark circles, wrinkles or sagginess/eye bags, nobody likes it. In terms of eye cream, this one from Hylamide - SubQ Eyes is extremely reasonable in its price point.

This very light-weight serum.. and by light weight I'm not lying. It's very thin in texture and absorbs quickly onto the skin. I have been using this for a month now and I love it. It has smoothed out my undereye and I notice that my concealer is not settling into fine lines or caking up.

I was recently asked when it is a good time/age to start using anti-aging products. My answer is probably in your mid twenties. Hear me out, I believe in PREVENTING aging vs. tackling it when you already see the onset of crows feet and wrinkles. It's easier to prevent as opposed to reverse.

For the one in your life that always wants brighter/whiter skin:

Esthederm is a brand that is introduced to me a few months back and is a sister company to Bioderma, a brand that I already love. The basis and background of their company and story is really intriguing -a ll of their products contain a cellular water that was solely developed for Esthederm. To read more about it, visit the link here. The mousse cleanser leaves your skin feeling utterly luxurious and clean - it feels moisturized and hydrated and after 2 weeks of use I really did feel more radiant. I got the effects of using a luminizer with my foundation without actually having to include it in my regiment.

The eye contour cream is one of my favorites I've used in a long time - it has a built in applicator that is metal. It leaves a cooling sensation upon application and helps with depuffing your eyes.

For the one in your life you want to spoil with some luxury quality eye cream:

I had the pleasure of meeting Tata Harper herself in October and while I knew about the brand before, after learning the story behind to why this whole company was created is really inspiring. If you want to read more about it, please visit the link here.

I wish I had the chance to try out more of their skincare, but for now I've thoroughly tested their Illuminating Moisturizer and the Illuminating Eye cream. They are both exceptional. I don't know if it's a coincidence, but I have not broken out since I have used this moisturizer. I love the herbal scent it has as well, its so calming. I will definitely repurchase this.

IDC Pearl Ultra-Purifying Gentle Cleansing Gel - $29.50
For those who seek a glow, it deep cleans pores and removes excess oil. It brightens your complexion and helps to eliminate dead skin cells.

IDC Ideal Multi-Correction Integral Serum - $79.95
Great for anti-aging benefits. It blurs the signs of fatigue and tightens your skin immediately to tone it. As you can see on the left side of the swatch, it gives a golden illuminated glow to help you look radiant.

IDC Regen Express Mat Multi-Benefit Care - $59.95
For the oily girls out there (like me with the oily t-zone) I love this. It is an all-in-1 product - it corrects your skin tone, hydrates while mattifying your face, contouring your eye and neck. It is suitable for morning and night use.

This section is mostly for anti-aging skincare:
Nip + Fab Bee Sting Fix Toning Pads - $12.99 usd
Bee Venom helps to plump and firm, Witch Hazel tightens and refines and Propolis Extract helps to keep the skin clean. These pads are used after cleansing and I typically use it 3-4 times a week.

Nip + Fab Dragon's Blood Hyaluronic Shot Serum - $24.95 usd
This product contains 50% hyaluronic acid in addition to dragon's blood, which is a sap found in the Croton Lechleri tree in the Amazon. It protects and heals the skin from external environmental damages. For those of you who follow my blog, will know that I am a lover of Hyaluronic Acid - as a reminder, it is an ingredient that gives plumpness to the skin and gives it the ultimate hydration it deserves. It also helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and leaves you with smoother skin and leaves you with a more radiant and younger looking skin.

Estee Lauder - Advanced Night Repair Intensive Recovery Ampoules - $135 cad
I learnt about these powerful little capsules at the fall media event and left it especially for the colder months to use. This is an ultra powerful concentrate that focuses on recovery and calming your stressed-out skin. The form of stress can be literal stress, from environmental, lack of sleep or travel. It contains ChronoluxAI technology that helps reduce irritation. I use this in the PM, not everyday - mostly only when my skin is feeling quite dull and lack luster.

Hylamide - SubQ Anti Age $38 cad
This product is great in terms of price point and quality - it helps with hydration, fine lines, wrinkles, sagginess and textural irregularities. The serum is light weight and almost water-like in texture - absorbs quickly.

Rose Skincare Ritual: Daily Essentials $78 cad
This is a great gift for Christmas, the colder months - it contains four products that help with dullness, uneven texture, dryness and skintone. I am such a lover of their Soy Cleanser but never had the heart to buy it as it is quite pricey - so instead, everytime Sephora had its point redemptions, I would always trade my 100 point perks for a few of them to take with me when I travel.

Burt's Bees Face Essentials - $22.99 cad
This contains White Tea towellettes, Peach + Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub, Soap Bark + Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream and a Coconut Pear Lipbalm. This gift set is set at a great price point and you get quality products as well. Shows you don't have to break an arm and a leg, or break the bank and dent your wallet.

I hope you enjoyed this installment of the Holiday Gift Guide, I know it's quite a lot to take in, but honestly I tried to narrow it down to the best of my ability to give you readers something suitable in each price point and skincare/age group/type.

Until next time, XO - M.

*products in this post were sent to me for review, but I only include my honest review.

URBAN DECAY GRAND-OPENING PARTY AT SQUARE ONE

Last Friday on December 2nd, I was invited to the private beauty influencer cocktail party at Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga to celebrate the grand-opening of Urban Decay's brand new flagship store in Canada. Urban Decay gave us the wonderful opportunity of previewing the store before the public opening the following day.

The brand new store is 1300 square feet and is unlike anything you've ever seen before. First of all, to your right you see two rows, totaling to the number of 8 gorgeous vanities with large lit-up mirrors where the UD make-up artists can help you with touch-ups, make overs and whatever else your make-up obsessing heart desires!

Well, some of you may be thinking why would Urban Decay open a free-standing store, if they already sell their products at Sephora? Good question! The answer is that the free-standing store actually offers alot of products that are Urban Decay exclusives - this means that you won't be able to find them at any Sephora retailers.

Inside the store, you will see that it is literally an UD make-up wonderland. There is a gorgeous 76 inch custom nickel chandelier, a bigger-than-life dog statue made of chrome, which is an homage to Marley, Wende's (UD Co-founder) beloved black lab (a symbol of their cruelty-free stance). To those who know me, will know that I love purple so I was totally in my happy place when I stepped into the store. The flooring is made of reclaimed wide-beam wood which counterbalances all the chrome fixtures and leaves the space feeling warm and inviting.

One last thing before you move on to the pictures below, at the store they have thought of everything - they wanted to create a beauty hang-out spot for you. You can indulge your inner desires and snap the perfect selfies in their interactive mirror on the far right of the store. There is even a giant digital screen that will showcase your photos on a live social feed. How cool!

We were offered specialty drinks featured above as well as champagne. The mural behind the checkout is beautiful and yes, those little gift bags are the generous goody bags that Urban Decay had for us (pictures will be below).

I think the best part of the afternoon was meeting this wonderful artist who took the time to personalize either the Naked Palette 2 or 3 with our blog names for us to take home (another generous gift from Urban Decay and how thoughtful!). I finally have something with my blog name on it and seriously, it's giving me all sorts of feels. I already own all the Naked palettes, so I definitely won't be using this. It's going to be a piece of art to be admired and will serve as a momento :)

The day after, at the official grand opening even to the public, guests had a chance to unlock the key to win the Naked vault featured below.

Even the cookies were super girly in true UD style - you could take a brush, wet it and add sprinkles to the lip-shaped cookies! Ahh!

Pictured below is a picture of our swag bag and the palette that I spoke about in the post above. I will surely be creating a look featuring these products at a later time. For now, I really wanted to focus on getting this event re-cap post up and  live for you guys so you can see pictures ASAP of the amazing store!

In addition to everything else, on the day that I went, if you made a purchase of $75, you will be able to get a make-up bag with deluxe sized sample products. I picked up a few items that I had been meaning to pick up all the time, the UD Highlighter in Sin (that is always sold out), the corrector in peach to counter my dark circles and the liquid moondust in Zap, a beautiful gold glitter, perfect for the upcoming holiday season and even subtle enough for everyday wear. If you want to amp up the glam, just layer it :)

Thank You again to UD for inviting me to such a fun and wonderful event. I had a fantastic time and to all of you reading, you have to take the time to visit the store ASAP. Stay tuned for a look coming soon!

Until next time, XO - M.
