Valentines Day Look ft. Anabelle Cosmetics Spring 2015 Releases*

Happy Valentines Day Everyone!! I hope that you are all spending this lovely day with your friends and loved ones doing whatever it is that makes you happy. For me, it'll mostly consist of spending time with my hubby, my furbaby and getting a good lunch together and then maybe watching a movie at home tonight. My hubs unfortunately has work tomorrow and on Monday (Family Day in Toronto) so booo...

Anyways! I have the pleasure of teaming up with Annabelle Cosmetics to test out some of their new Spring 2015 releases! This includes:

1. Perfect Bronze Bronzing Pressed Powder in Sun Heat (a new shade)
- mineral based enriched with silk powder
- velvety, blendable.
- comes in soft matte or lightly lustrous tones
- paraben/gluten free
- other new shades released: sun shine, sun breeze, sun chic.
- retails for $11.95 approx for 10g

2. Blushon in Peony (new shade)
- weightless, micro-milled powder
- smooth and velvety formula, blends like a dream and pigmented
                                                                          - choice of soft matte or subtle shimmer finished
                                                                          - paraben/gluten-free.
                                                                          - retails for $11.95 approx for 15.4g

Additionally,  they launched the Anabelle Lipsies (I was told this would be back for good). These are SO amazing, it's moisturizing, has a glossy finish to it, NOT stick at all (YAY), and has a good color payoff if applied in 2 layers. One layer would give you a sheer finish. The below pictures are with two layers. I bought the lychee one (yes, it smells like lychee and it is AMAZING) and was given Fruit Punch and Cherry to try. Oh by the way, the balms come in retractable packaging which is super convenient. I am going to pick up some more ASAP - not kidding!

I thought that this would be a perfect opportunity to use all of the Anabelle products to create a Valentines Day look for all of you. I included the 3 different lip colors below so you can see what they look like. They retail for about $4.95 for 3.5g).
Lychee, Fruit Punch, Cherry.

Review & Tutorial: Effortless Beauty with Annabelle and Marcelle Cosmetics*

Being a mom to a newborn means that I no longer have the luxury to sit at my vanity and take the time I need to figure out what products to use, go through trial and error... and eventually get to a make-up look I like before I leave the house. I need products that I can rely on, that I know will work when I'm on a time crunch and have only a few minutes to make myself look put together to head out the door.

Annabelle and Marcelle have created some items that I have fallen in love with through time and they are one of the drugstore brands that I know I can count on to do what I need. For example, their mascaras are amazing and I always keep a few on hand. With their mascaras, my thin and short lashes look thick and longer and makes my eyes look wider and awake. If you're interested in reading some of my posts about their products that I've reviewed in the past, then click here.

Makeup Monday - Annabelle and Marcelle Fall 2015 Looks *

For those of you who have hit the drugstores, are probably aware of the new lines of cosmetics coming out slowly for the fall season. Today I'm bringing you a look from the new fall 2015 Marcelle and Annabelle line. I will be creating more in the upcoming weeks but today, I thought i'd stick to a simple neutral look and paired it with the three lip colors for a fun pop of color, perfect for the summer months still.

Pictured here is the Annabelle Smokey Nudes Eyeshadow palette. I used the three colors, in the middle of the bottom row, Each color is very pigmented and I'm honestly very impressed of the quality being a drugstore brand. The palette retails for approx $12.95.

Above is the Marcelle Rouge Xpression Lipstick in Vivid Coral, Rouge En Folie and Nude Pink. The lipsticks are enriched with avocado oil and Vit E + C and restores hydration while smoothing out fine lines. My favorite color is Vivid Coral. it is a perfect bright pink pop of color for summer! The one that I like the least is Nude Pink, only because I find that it settles a bit in the lips, so if you have drier lips, you will be able to see the lines. Each lipstick retails for $11.95

The blush is Pink Mademoiselle and retails for $15.95

My 3 absolute favorite products is the:
1. Annabelle Eyeink Liquid Eyeliner Duo - one side is ultra thin, and the other side is fine which allows you to create the perfect cat eye! Retails for $10.95
2. Annabelle Stay Sharp Long Wearing Brow Liner - Retails for $9.95. This is a self-sharpening brow pencil which is long wearing and a perfect taupe shade which is perfect for my brunette hair. I will forever be purchasing this as opposed to the more expensive brow products in Sephora or department stores.
3. Marcelle Xtension plus Curl Mascara - If you are looking for long lashes with volume and curl then this is it. This beats Benefit They're Real and my old favorite, Maybelline Lash Sensational. This gave me ultra long, curled and plush lashes without having to curl my lashes in the first place. The only thing to be careful for is the wand, it is very hard and a bit spikey so just be careful. This retails for $12.95.

So without further adieu, please find below the look I created using the three different lip colors! which one is your favorite?

 Neutral Pink lipstick

Vivid Coral (is more of a hot pink)

Rouge En Folie
I'm still not used to wearing red lipstick so I'm quite tense in this pic!

Until next time,
XO - M.

Annabelle - Big Show Lacquer Swatches and Review*

Annabelle Cosmetics is helping us get ready for Spring with these lip lacquers in vibrant and glossy shades. With these, Annabelle states that you get the benefits of 3 products in 1: the saturated color of a lipstick, the lustrous finish of a gloss and the long lasting color of a stain - what are my thoughts on these? Keep reading and I'll let you know.

These retail for $9.95 and are available for purchase at Annabelle.com and in stores as of January 2016.

So here are my thoughts - The lacquers come in a light, non-sticky formula which I greatly appreciate. I long for a gloss that doesn't become sticky or have your hair get stuck on it if it catches on your gloss - I HATE THAT. They also have a really light fruity scent that isn't overwhelming. As for the three claims above, I agree with the highly saturated color with the glossy finish, however I do not 100% agree with the staining property. The lightest color - Adore Simply, does not stain your lips. The most effective one would have to be the darker shades - Love Fiercely and Hypnotize Deeply, but even still the staining is very light. Do not expect an all day tint on your lips after the gloss is gone.

Overall, at $9.95 a pop, I do believe they are worth it as something similar would run you at least double the price at a department store. I give these products a 8.5/10 (only because of the lack of staining/tint that should have lasted), I thoroughly enjoyed everything else.

Keep in mind that these lacquers do have a pearl sheen to them - so if you are a lover of a one-dimension, one toned lipgloss, you might not be a fan of these. The pearl finish does give you a beautiful pout to the lips :) The least evident of the pearl finish can be found in the darker shades, the lighter shades are pretty evident, especially on the lightest shade - Adore Simply.

Here are some pictures of the lip products swatched on my lips - my favorite shade would have to be Love Fiercely and Hypnotize Deeply - they are both so ultra pigmented and was perfect for me during Valentines Day :)

Have you tried any new drugstore products lately that you fell in love with? I have to admit that I was weary of trying out drugstore products for the longest time, but for the last year or so - I really think that they have really improved in product quality and selection, and it also has really proved to be a good competitor to their more expensive counterparts.

Until next time, XO - M.

Review & Swatch: Annabelle Edge Lipsticks*

Annabelle has recently launched the Edge Lipsticks, an innovative diamond-shaped lipstick that is said to effortlessly define your lips and give them volume and dimension. The lipsticks retail for $9.95 each and comes in 12 various shades ranging from neutrals to bright reds. I have graciously been sent the entire collection, including the lip scrub which they recommend to be applied to the lips before each lipstick as it provides a smooth and moisturized canvas for application.

I have all the lipsticks (minus the lip scrub) swatched below on both the arm and on the lips - I personally found that so long as your lips are already smooth, it is not necessary to use the lip scrub as it does create a slick to the lips that makes the lipstick a bit slippery on application. I love the almost matte finish to these lipsticks and they apply perfectly on their own without becoming patchy at all - all the swatches below are with one swipe as well which means they have a fantastic formulation. If you wish for more of a shine look to the lipstick, then definitely go for the lip scrub before hand!

Above you see the innovative diamond-shaped lipstick - to apply, it is recommended that you place the point to your cupid's bow and apply like other regular lipsticks.

My favorite shades are: Kelly, Serena, Winnie, Rita, Iris, Soo and Taylor. I know it seems like a lot but a majority of them are the berry/red shades that I believe are perfectly formulated in terms of color payoff. They pack a punch, are just so beautiful and bold.

I highly recommend that you pick up a few of these lipsticks, at the price point it is way less than most high-end lipsticks and I really believe that this formulation is so much better than most that I've tried.

Until next time, XO - M.

Tutorial: Quick and Easy Mommy Makeup Routine*

Being a new mom who spends a majority of her days at home, there really is no need for me to put on make-up to be honest, but there are times when I have to go out to run an errand or two that I just don't want to look like a complete zombie or hot mess. Below you will find that I have used some staple products to create a really quick natural look to just help me feel more polished and put together. It's quick, it's easy and most of all it took me only 5 minutes.

I know that most of you may be intimidated or think, how can I do this in under 5 minutes? but honestly practice makes perfect and obviously you need to make sure you have good products that you trust.

Before & After

Products for the Face include:
Face Powder: Charlotte Tilbury - Air Brush Flawless Finish (medium)
Highlighter: Wet n Wild - MegaGlo Liquid Highlighter*
Blush: Annabelle - Perfect Cream Blush*

For the eyes + lips:
Undereye Corrector: Becca - Undereye Brightening Corrector (light-medium)
Concealer: Urban Decay - All Nighter Waterproof Full-Coverage Concealer (med-light neutral)*
Setting Powder for underyee: Too Faced - Kandee Johnson - Banana Pudding Powder
Eyeliner: Annabelle - Brush Tip Eyeliner*
Brows: Wet n Wild - Ultimate Brow Retractable*
Lips: Lipstick Queen - Nothing but the Nudes (The Truth)*

The key to a quick make-up application, like I mentioned above, is having products that work! The key products here that I need (if nothing else was included) is the Becca undereye brightening corrector and concealer with some blush. Those three products help to hide the panda eye circles and the blush adds some color/life to my face!

Until next time, XO - M.

Review and Swatch: Annabelle Cosmetics - Bouncy Collection*

Annabelle Cosmetics has recently included a range of products to their existing line-up, called the Bouncy Collection - it includes shadows, a brow palette, mascara as well as a face and body highlighter. For those of you who appreciate a quick make-up application on a budget will definitely want to stay tuned

Annabelle Cosmetics Spring 2017 Launch - Review, Swatch + Look*

Just when I thought that there was a glimpse of Spring in the air, being quite warm last week in Toronto - it just started to snow a bit again here and the weather has dropped quite a bit. Guess we are in for a bit more of the colder winter weather for a while. The extended forecast seems to show that we won't be getting to +0 degrees C for another month or so...boo :(

Well, for now in the anticipation of Spring, I want to share with you Annabelle Cosmetics upcoming Spring 2017 product launch. I love what they say - "A little bit of Eyeshadow, A lotta bit of confidence!" - I know one specific shadow in this set that totally embraces this saying - that would have to be the chrome eyeshadow! It comes in 5 different shades, which I need ALL of - it is buttery, pigmented and mousse like and seriously packs a punch and is truly chrome. It comes in Rose Gold, Silver, Gold, Geranium and Mercury and they are $8.95 each.

In the pictures below, the LEFT is the Eye + Brow Palette ($12.95) and the RIGHT is the Skinny Palette ($9.95) - both swatched.

The Skinny Palette is available in 6 different palette shades and is sleek and compact, perfect for taking with you on the go.

The Eye and Brow Palette would have to be my favorite of the two - it is so thin and sleek that since it includes both eyeshadows and brow products, taking this palette on the go is perfect! In the make-up look below, I used this specific palette on my eyes and brows and the Chrome shadow on my lid. Although it comes with a double-ended applicator, I find that I still enjoy using my own brushes.

Before I applied the eyeshadow, I primed my lids with the Shadow Primer - $8.95, it comes in a universal color - a light beige pink shade that helps to neutralize the lid a bit - not completely, but just enough. It remains a bit tacky afterwards so that the shadow can adhere to it properly.

I applied the Full Blast Mascara $6.95 to my lashes and it helped to thicken and separate the lashes. I didn't find that it helped with curling or lengthening, so if that's what you are into, I'd suggest that you look for something else.

To set the brows, I used the Brow Show Shaping Gel $8.95, and although the large brush seems intimidating, large meaning fat brush, it actually works really well to just touch on the brows and not the area around it. The color, though looking light, helps to add a lighter tint to set it. The gel doesn't make it crispy either which is amazing - I really love that I can find a product that works for me in the drugstore.

I lined my eyes with the Skinny Gel Eyeliner $8.95 - it comes with a 1.9 mm microtip, which reminds me of the hourglass micro slim liners - it is quite fragile, so apply with a light hand, I suggest warming it first on the back of your hand to make the gel more emollient. It comes in four different shades - Black Onyx (what I have), Umber Brown, Taupissime and Navy Blue. I line the base of my upper lash line, then take a flat brush to pull on the ends to create a small wing. It has a bit of playing time before it sets, then it stays put all day. You have to make sure you have a good eye make-up remover though because it likes to stay put even if you think you've rinsed it thoroughly. What I mean is that it does wash off, but it smeared to my bottom lash line and I looked kind of like a panda. Haha!

Out of all the products mentioned, I would say you MUST get the Chrome Shadow - and then I'd suggest the liner as well. It's pigmented and unique to the drugstore - the thin tip really allows for more defined work on your lash line.

Until next time, XO - M.

February to April 2017 Empties and Review*

One of my favorite things to do is to read about empties posts and watch empties videos. The reason is, I can spend all the time doing tutorials or writing reviews, but those products are either first impressions, or products I recently received and haven't spent a long enough time using yet. With empties however, you know for a fact that you've spent a very long time using these products and that you've had more than a fair shot to determine whether or not you like them or would repurchase them again and recommend to your friends, families or readers.

As usual, I have separated them into different categories so that it'd be easier for you to follow :)  So if you're interested in reading about my last few months' worth of empties, then keep on reading below...

September to October 2016 Empties

It seems like its been a while since my last empties post, however it has only actually been a month and well ... I've used up a lot of products and thought that once again, I should share my thoughts with you! While most of them are empties, there are some that I just couldn't finish in time before it went bad, or some were just misses. Continue reading to see what made it to my must re-purchase list!

Product Empties and Review: July - December 2018

In the past 5 months, I am quite proud of the amount of products used up. As usual, I have separated my review in different categories for convenience - facial wipes/puffs, cleansers and moisturizers, body products, haircare, makeup and miscellaneous.

2015 Beauty Favorites

This year went by with the blink of an eye it seems and to round up 2015, I thought I'd share with you all my beauty favorites! There were so many new products I was introduced to, so it was really hard to narrow it down. Being a beauty blogger, I always try to try what's new and coming in the market, however, it is just impossible :)

Anyways, enough rambling! I separated my favorites into different sections to make it easier for you :) If you don't make it to the end of the post, then I'll wish you a Happy New Year now!! See you all in 2016!!

PRIMERS
1) Smashbox Primer Water - gives you a hydrated surface for the rest of your makeup
2) Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer - keeps my oily/combo skin at bay and mattifies my foundation.
3) Smashbox - Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Primer - the BEST pore filler primer ever. My holy grail product!

FOUNDATIONS
1. Dior Airflash Foundation - the best foundation that comes in a aerosol format :) feels weightless on your skin and gives you buildable coverage. I love it.
2. Amore Pacific - Cushion Foundation - I tried a few different cushion foundations this year, and Amore Pacific has got to be my choice this year. The color matches my skin perfectly and lasts all day.
3. Giorgio Armani - Luminous Silk Foundation - I've been using this foundation for the past 3 years and I keep coming back to it. It gives you luminous skin and doesn't have a cakey finish.
4. Charlotte Tilbury - Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder - I LOVE this powder. Even though it is pricier, I will keep using it. I use this on days that I do not feel like putting on any liquid foundation, or if I wanted touch ups mid day, this can do the job. It makes you look airbrushed - really, it does!
5. Maybelline - Hydrate and Smooth Foundation  - this is my choice for my drugstore foundation of choice. It gives a medium coverage and is very adorable at less than $10.

CONCEALERS
1. Sephora Gel Serum Concealer - I discovered this a few months ago, and it has taken over the few concealers I have been using on rotation. It gives good coverage and has 20 different shades to choose from. From the site, it says that it has 21% pigment, allowing for effective coverage without feeling heavy, and doesn't settle into fine lines.
2. Maybeline Instant Age Rewind Concealer  - A great drugstore find! Be careful which color you go for though, I like the neutralizing one, and I have a feeling I'll like the medium shade as well but it is always out of stock. I tried the brightening one once, and absolutely hated it - so stay away from that one!

BLUSHES
My absolute weakness - it really was quite hard to narrow it down, however my top selections high end, drugstore and cream based are:
1. Clinique - Color Pop Blush - not only is the packaging of the product adorable, but the product itself is great. I have three different shades - Heather, Rosy and Ginger and I reach for Heather the most. It gives you great color, buildable but the way it applies on your face is almost sheer-like. It doesn't look powdery or cakey. LOVE it!
2. Annabelle - Blushes * - Great pigmentation, great lasting power, great drugstore find and you can usually find them on sale for around $5-$6 a piece.
3. Inglot - Cream Blush - I find myself quite picky when it comes to cream blushes. I don't want anything with a greasy feeling and I want it to last all day and I found everything I want in a cream blush here :) If you haven't tried it before, I highly suggest you do. It's cheaper than Bobbi Brown or Becca and outperforms them.

CONTOUR & HILIGHTER
1. Kat Von D - Shade and Light Contour Palette - my choice for contour powder. Three different shades, all works for my medium skin tone.
2. Charlotte Tilbury - Bronze and Glow Palette - this is my choice for favorite hilight. It gives you a subtle yet beautiful golden glow to your face. LOVE! I will be taking this with me on vacation to the Dominican in March! With a tan this will be utterly fabulous!
3. Charlotte Tilbury - Wonder Glow - My FAVORITE liquid hilighter here. I add this usually to my liquid foundation and it gives me a gorgeous dewy finish. You can also add this to the high points of your face.

EYESHADOW
1. LORAC Pro Palette - My palette of choice this year. I was coveting this for years, and finally got my hands on it. You can create a neutral to bold look with it... you really just need this one palette with you when you travel.
2. Colour Pop & Milani - at around $5 this would be my "drugstore" shadow of choice. While I know that you can't pick up Colour Pop shadows at the drugstore per say, the price of it is really comparable to what you can find at a drugstore. My second drugstore shadow of choice, would be the Milani Gel Shadows
3. Make Up Forever Artist Shadows - with 198 colors to choose from, you can't ever say that you can't find your perfect shade. The pigmentation of these are incredible and so is the performance. I picked up a few at IMATS this year and I LOVE them :)

MASCARAS  & EYELINER
1. Marcelle - Extension Plus * - This drugstore mascara gives me length and volume. It does better than over half of the high end mascaras have done for me.
2. Dior Show Iconic Over Curl - I use this if I'm feeling a bit fancier as afterall, it is higher end. It gives me a beautiful curl without having to manually curl my lashes before hand.
3. Estee Lauder - Little Black Primer * - This has been my HOLY GRAIL product. I use this primer every time now before applying any type of mascara. In addition, I love the length and seperation it gives me. Sometimes I wear this alone as the primer is black. Paired with any mascara, it takes the mascara to a new level. I highly suggest you all to try this. It is a little drier in texture - so if you buy it, don't be shocked. I will be definitely getting another when this is done.
4. Kat Von D - Ink Liner in Trooper - Ultra black, ultra pigmented. Gives you an amazing wing. There is no other.

BROWS
If you want brows on "fleek" you need these two in your life. On days that I have time to perfect my brows , I go for the Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade. If I am on the run, and need to be out the door ASAP, I go for the Anastasia Brow Wiz.

* I forgot to put my favorite brow gel here - that is the Milani Brow Gel :)

LIP PRODUCTS
1. Estee Lauder - Pure Colour Envy Liquid Lip Volumizer *- this product is really great. I keep it in my purse and use it any chance I get. It contains the fancy self adjusting color property that gives you a beautiful shade of pink to your lips and also adds a bit of volume without ever feeling like you rubbed a chili on your lips. It is ultra nourishing and even gives my lips comfort in this cold weather for my chapped lips.
2. Tom Ford Lipstick - My luxury lipstick of choice. Beautiful colors, pigmentation and goes on like a dream. One swipe is all you need.
3. Essence Lipstick - My drugstore pick . These lipsticks are so cheap and so worth the money. It comes in a bevy of colours as well.

LASH GLUE
My favorite lash glue has to come from Esquido*. You do not need to wait 30 seconds for it to get tacky before applying, Just swipe on your lashes and wait about 2-3 seconds and then place on your lashes. Best part is it helps your lashes stay on all night and you can even peel the glue off the band with your fingers without having to force it.

To keep this post as short as possible, I said to myself, no skincare, or else it could last all day, but I had to add this one last product (I will include some names of the brands that carried some of my favorite products this year - B.Kamins and Paula's Choice)

This is the Indie Lee Blemish Stick. I have introduced this to countless of people, I even have one coworker so hooked on it I think she's on her.. 6th? bottle? Anyways, this stuff is marvelous. A little dab when you feel a flare up coming, and it's gone the next day. It doesn't burn like mad and it just simply works for me.

What are some of your beauty favorites for 2015? I'm so looking forward to seeing what 2016 brings in the world of beauty, but until then - Happy New Year everyone!

Lots of Love, XO - M.
