Review: Make Up For Ever - Matte Velvet Skin Full Coverage Foundation*

Make Up For Ever has recently relaunched its Matte Velvet Skin Foundation that is said to provide full coverage while being lightweight, oil free and flexible - meaning that it moves with your skin and will never feel cakey, look flakey or fade throughout the day with wear and time.

I have oily combination skin, and I usually gravitate towards foundations that are sheer to medium buildable in my everyday wear. I rarely like to wear a full cover foundation because most that I've personally experienced have been cakey and heavy on my face and by the end of the day, I look like a oily patchy mess.

If you can see in the photos below, with just one coat my skin looks full coverage and airbrushed/flawless. I wore this for an entire day in 30+ degree weather and it honestly did not budge. I looked the same at the end of the day and it didn't feel heavy nor did I look cakey. Through time, most of my foundations usually get quite oily in the t-zone area, but this one just looked better with time. I think I really understand what this flex formula is because I experienced now cracking or bunching of the foundation on my skin at all. It honestly just looked like second skin.

The above was also done with a pea sized amount - I squeezed it onto the back of my hand, applied the hydrating primer and then dotted the foundation on key areas of my face and blended it out with the 108 brush and it covered my entire face without being patchy or catching on the pores and black heads on my nose which is often an area I do have some trouble with when it comes to foundation application and is also usually generally the first area to fade.

TIP for those who want to thin out the coverage: mix the foundation directly with the primer or your favourite moisturizer first then dot it on your face and blend out. That will thin out your foundation and if you even wanted to, add more of the moisturizer/primer and you have yourself a tinted moisturizer right there.

Products used in the look above are all from Make Up For Ever

Until next time, XO - M.
