Tutorial and Review: Ways to fake that summer tan*

The air is crisp and cool and the nights where the sun sets at 9pm are long gone... you notice that the tan you've worked to get this summer is fading, and you just wish that there was a way to keep some color to your complexion without turning into a ghost during the winter season. I typically don't like to self-tan in the dead of winter, however during the fall season or late spring, it's time to get that tan-on! I've collected here in this post some of my tried and true favorites in different formulations of self-tan so that hopefully you will be able to find something that suits you! If you're interested in learning more, then keep on reading below

Mouse Formulation:

Vita Liberata - Invisi Foaming Water

The mousse formulation has been upgraded to this invisible formulation that doesn't dry patchy or orange on the skin. It works well - no b.s. and generally gives you a tint to your skin that is 1-2 shades darker. I make sure to fully exfoliate my skin the night before application and avoid my elbows and ankles. The tan is very natural and takes about 5-6 hours to develop on me and it lasts for about a week. This can be used on the face and body but I prefer to keep this to the body - I have other ones below I recommend for the face.

Nourishing Tan-Prolonging Oil:

On days that I can get some sun, I like to apply this onto my skin - especially in the summertime I spray this 20-30 minutes before I go out and it helps to both protect my skin as well as keeping my skin soft and also making the tan just look better, color and look wise.

Products for the Face:
St. Tropez - Gradual Tan plus Luminous Veil Face Cream
This is a face lotion that can be applied alone or even as a primer before you apply your make-up. It contains micro shimmer pearls that make you look radiant while giving you a gradual glow. This product does not have any self-tanner scents and is quick drying and doesn't make your face look patchy. It is a subtle product and makes you look tanned a bit at a time.
St. Tropez - Self Tan Bronzing Water Facial Mist
If you prefer something that is quick and easy, try this one ! spritz it on your face before makeup or just during the day and you will see your face get gradually tanner. I love this one and use this more than the face cream because of its effortless application.

This baby is sooooooo good - it's like a bronzer, but it helps you look like you just hopped off the plane from a tropical vacation. It gives you a glow and a gradual tan as well. A little bit goes a long way. I typically just dab my kabuki brush once and do half my face and once more for the other half and I'm good to go.

Avon - Skin So Soft Radiant Glow Illuminating Dry Oil Mist
What's all this hard work for if you can't show it off and take care of it - this is what the convenient spray bottle of dry oil is for. This one is special because it contains subtle gold flecks of glitter that don't look visible to the eye when on the skin but gives you an extra shine when out and especially if you're at a special event at night and show off that shoulder or your legs. It keeps your skin moisturized, smelling great and glowing.

Until next time, XO - M.
