Last Friday on December 2nd, I was invited to the private beauty influencer cocktail party at Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga to celebrate the grand-opening of Urban Decay's brand new flagship store in Canada. Urban Decay gave us the wonderful opportunity of previewing the store before the public opening the following day.
The brand new store is 1300 square feet and is unlike anything you've ever seen before. First of all, to your right you see two rows, totaling to the number of 8 gorgeous vanities with large lit-up mirrors where the UD make-up artists can help you with touch-ups, make overs and whatever else your make-up obsessing heart desires!
Well, some of you may be thinking why would Urban Decay open a free-standing store, if they already sell their products at Sephora? Good question! The answer is that the free-standing store actually offers alot of products that are Urban Decay exclusives - this means that you won't be able to find them at any Sephora retailers.
Inside the store, you will see that it is literally an UD make-up wonderland. There is a gorgeous 76 inch custom nickel chandelier, a bigger-than-life dog statue made of chrome, which is an homage to Marley, Wende's (UD Co-founder) beloved black lab (a symbol of their cruelty-free stance). To those who know me, will know that I love purple so I was totally in my happy place when I stepped into the store. The flooring is made of reclaimed wide-beam wood which counterbalances all the chrome fixtures and leaves the space feeling warm and inviting.
One last thing before you move on to the pictures below, at the store they have thought of everything - they wanted to create a beauty hang-out spot for you. You can indulge your inner desires and snap the perfect selfies in their interactive mirror on the far right of the store. There is even a giant digital screen that will showcase your photos on a live social feed. How cool!
We were offered specialty drinks featured above as well as champagne. The mural behind the checkout is beautiful and yes, those little gift bags are the generous goody bags that Urban Decay had for us (pictures will be below).
I think the best part of the afternoon was meeting this wonderful artist who took the time to personalize either the Naked Palette 2 or 3 with our blog names for us to take home (another generous gift from Urban Decay and how thoughtful!). I finally have something with my blog name on it and seriously, it's giving me all sorts of feels. I already own all the Naked palettes, so I definitely won't be using this. It's going to be a piece of art to be admired and will serve as a momento :)
Above you will find samples of some of her artwork - They are bold, fun and super girly but edgy at the same time.
The day after, at the official grand opening even to the public, guests had a chance to unlock the key to win the Naked vault featured below.
Even the cookies were super girly in true UD style - you could take a brush, wet it and add sprinkles to the lip-shaped cookies! Ahh!
Pictured below is a picture of our swag bag and the palette that I spoke about in the post above. I will surely be creating a look featuring these products at a later time. For now, I really wanted to focus on getting this event re-cap post up and live for you guys so you can see pictures ASAP of the amazing store!
In addition to everything else, on the day that I went, if you made a purchase of $75, you will be able to get a make-up bag with deluxe sized sample products. I picked up a few items that I had been meaning to pick up all the time, the UD Highlighter in Sin (that is always sold out), the corrector in peach to counter my dark circles and the liquid moondust in Zap, a beautiful gold glitter, perfect for the upcoming holiday season and even subtle enough for everyday wear. If you want to amp up the glam, just layer it :)
Thank You again to UD for inviting me to such a fun and wonderful event. I had a fantastic time and to all of you reading, you have to take the time to visit the store ASAP. Stay tuned for a look coming soon!
Until next time, XO - M.
