Indeed Laboratories - The Boosters have arrived!*


We all know that everyone has a different skin type and concern - even if you think you've found a skincare routine that suits you, sometimes things can change. The weather may get colder, you may not have had enough sleep the night before, partied too hard, or you might just feel like your skin could use some extra radiance, that it's lacking its former youthful glow. 

I have previously written about Indeed Laboratories before, specifically the Vitamin C24 which I had absolutely LOVED. I always use this when my skin feels blah, looks flat and has lost the glow and plumpness. I can always count on this product to give me what I need. 

Well, Indeed has done it again, they have created six new boosters - collagen, hydration, Q10, radiance, mineral and resistance. Each of these serums/boosters help you to create your very own skincare army. You can use these alone, add them to your favorite serum, foundation or even cream to multi use them to help meet your daily skin care demands and goals. 

They retail for approx $24.99 each (please visit your local Shoppers Drug Mart or online on the Indeed website for more specifics on their price points. 


I have been using these as serums ever since I got them. I feel like its the best way to layer it into my skincare and have it thoroughly absorb into my skin. My favorites are hydration, collagen and radiance. 


I highly suggest that you give these products a try. I know that I was sent these for review, but honestly Indeed has not let me down. Did I also mention that they are a Canadian company? Woohoo!

Indeed Labs - Snoxin II and Eysilix II review*


Skincare from Indeed Labs are products that I have been using for a long time now. I had previously reviewed the Vitamin C-24 and Boosters, if you're interested in reading about them you can click on the links attached. The products I have tried work, are reliable and even better, they are at a great price point and are Canadian! Their products are paraben free and are suitable for all skin types and is fragrance free. The vitamin c-24 has been my favorite product so far and below you will find the two newest products launched by Indeed Labs.  

 
Snoxin II
$27.99

This is a super-concentrated serum that helps to fight wrinkles and lines. It contains a high dosage of peptides to help smooth out the skin's texture and retain moisture. It contains XEP-018™, a clinically proven peptide that helps minimize muscle contractions and relaxes lines and wrinkles instantly. 

To use, apply a small amount - I usually use about a pea sized amount to be spread on both eyes twice a day on cleansed skin. After this, you resume with your regular skincare routine. Results are said to show as quickly as 2 hours and lasts for the day (approx. 8 hours).
The one major thing I appreciate about this product is that it is a much safer and milder alternative to Botox (and probably cheaper too).

XEP-018™: A biomimetic peptide that mimics Cone Snail venom from the Indo-West Pacific region. This is an updated and improved formulation of their current bestselling eye cream. It helps to reduce the appearance of puffiness, dark circles, fine lines and crow's feet - which is perfect for either mature skin or those around my age, early 30's who are trying to do preventative care. If you are a reader of my blog, you will know that I strongly believe in preventing and treating your skin before it starts to show signs of aging in which it is harder to reverse. 

This product contains essential peptides, ceramids, extracts and probiotics to target your sensitive eye area. Apply this on a clean face and dab a small thin layer around the eye area twice a day.

Key Ingredients (as noted on their website)
NEODERMYL™: A pure source of bio-energy which can naturally diffuse into skin, re-energizing cells, triggering essential elements to produce collagen and elastin. This “needle-free” collagen and elastin filler results in visible reduction of deep wrinkles and improvement in skin firmness.

Indeed Laboratories vitamin c24 review*


Being a beauty blogger, I have the amazing chance to try out various brands and products that I would have never had either heard of, been exposed to or tried before. Therefore, when I was contacted to give this newly released product from Indeed Laboratories a try, my answer was yes. 

Indeed Laboratories is a brand that I have always heard about and seen, especially at Shoppers Drug Mart. Fun fact, I used to always pass by their head office and would always wonder if I would ever be lucky enough to try out their products. NO, I am not a weirdo stalker - my husband actually USED to work just next door to them in downtown Toronto (same floor even), but unfortunately, I had never had the opportunity to try it out as to be honest it is a pricier product then most at the drugstore, and I wasn't sure if I would like it. WELL, I'll be the first to admit what I fool I was .... because if their entire line is as good as this vitamin c24 product, then I NEED to get my hands on more products ASAP!

The vitamin c24 was just released this week on their website and at the drugstore and it was created to treat premature aging caused by daily exposure to the sun, pollution, free radicals and other environmental aggressors. It is derived from 22% Vitamin C L- Ascorbic Acid + 2% Hyaluronic Microspheres and is priced at $24.99 (one time purchase) or if you subscribe for auto-shipment of this product, you save 10% and it works out to be around $22.49.

 Below you will find the benefits of this product as stated from their website:
  • Protects from free radicals and environmental aggressors
  • Builds collagen – L-Ascorbic acid is essential for cross-linking collagen molecules
  • Restores skin’s youthful appearance
  • Reduces the appearance of premature aging – early appearance of lines and wrinkles
  • Reduces inflammation

  • Vitamin C (L-absorbic Acid): This is Vitamin C in its purest form. At a concentration of 22%, this stable and waterless ingredient delivers protection against environmental aggressors, like free-radicals, that speed up the aging process.
  • Micro-spheres of Hyaluronic Acid: 2% Hyaluronic Micro-spheres. The technology of the Filling Sphere™ is based on the use of hygroscopic material to make a sphere. These spheres are dehydrated at first, and fill up with water within the skin. Directions: Apply a pea-sized amount to face and neck in the evening. Apply in the morning followed with SPF 30 or higher sunscreen. Below you will find one of the ways I have been incorporating the vitamin c24 to my day-time skincare routine. 

What I absolutely love about this product is that because of the dimethicone proponent to this, it actually acts as a primer for me as well. It has replaced my coveted Smashbox Pore Minimizing Primer as this has evened out my pores and skin texture (and just like the Smashbox Primer, it is not greasy at all). I LOVE multi-purpose products! Also, it is very important to note that after my return from my vacation to the Dominican, even though I had applied SPF 50 to my face, I still had alot of sun damage and it was evident with the large amount of peeling I was experiencing from my face. Even upon the first application, I could notice that by the next day my skin appeared smoother and without fail by the 3rd day I had completely stopped peeling and in fact my face looked like I had recently come back from the spa. It was plump, smooth and I even noticed a brightness to my complexion. I didn't have to combine a liquid hilighter to my foundation anymore and I still had that "lit from within glow". I have to say that even though this was sent to me as a PR sample, I will definitely be repurchasing this when I am done using it. This product will probably last me at least 3-4 months as you only need the smallest amount each time. I really encourage you to give this product a go asap! P.S - did I mention that this product is also Canadian? Woo!

                  Review: Indeed Laboratories inDefense30*


                  I have been using products from Indeed Laboratories for a few years now, and you can read my previous posts here if you're interested. I love that they are created in Toronto and are a Canadian company. They created solid products that are extremely reasonable in price point and works. I was obsessed with the Vitamin C24 for a long time and took it with me on vacation as well to the Dominican Republic and it kept my skin in prestine condition and calmed any minor sunburn I got on my face. 

                  Anyways, onto the reason for this post.... the introduction of their newest product, the inDefense30. It retails for $19.99 and is something that is great for this summer weather, especially with all the heat waves we've been experiencing lately here in Toronto. It is a lightweight mineral sunscreen that protects your skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays. It contains a key ingredient, Pycnogenol, which is a powerful antioxidant to promote the skin's ability to heal scars and rebuild collagen for smoother and younger skin. It also contains ingredients to help keep the moisture in your skin and also protect against hyperpigmentation and brown spots (what some people can also get from sun exposure).

                  You are to apply this approximately 15 minutes before sun exposure, I typically just use this in place of my moisturizer before I put my makeup on if I'm going out. It leaves behind a very plump and moisturized feeling so it really helps to blend out my foundation well without clinging to any dry spots. On days where I am just running errands, I slap this on my face and then put a bit of concealer and some powder and blush and I'm out the door. It feels weightless on the skin and does not feel thick or uncomfortable like alot of sunscreens do. It also did not make my skin increase in oil production which is key.


                  As you can see from the above picture on the left, it is a thicker product so a little goes a long way when spread and thinned out.

                  Review: Indeed Laboratories - Nanoblur Colour Correctors*


                  The original nanoblur from indeed Laboratories has recently added three new items to their existing line-up, the colour correctors tinted in shades of yellow, purple and green. Think of these as both a skincare and make-up product as it works to treat, blur, correct and also prime the face at the same time. For those of you who are just looking to even out some redness, or add some brightness to the skin, wear this alone. If you are looking to wear make-up on top of this, it works as an amazing primer as well as it blurs out and fills in pores to give you a great canvas to apply your foundation, and rest of your make-up routine. 

                  Each tube of product retails for $16.99 and contains 30ml of product - they are paraben and fragrance free. As mentioned above, this is also a skincare item as it contains Nigella Sativa Oil which is an antioxidant and contains anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, it also helps to moisturize and strengthen the skin as well. Talk about a two-in-one product!

                  April 2016 Favorites


                  This month's favorites circle around items that can give me a fresh spring look with a sheer wash of color on my lips and cheeks. I have had a really busy month of April with some personal matters that I have been falling behind with my blogging and have just been going for the most minimalist look when it comes to my daily makeup routine.

                  My list of favorites include:
                  - Indeed Labs - Vitamin c24 - This has been a favorite since my trip to the Dominican in March and it has saved my skin through the sun damage I had there. I will continue to use this product and repurchase it after.
                  - Marcelle - Perfect Brow - with the extremely thin brow wand - this brown tinted brow gel completes my brow look every morning. It sets the hairs without looking crunchy.
                  - Charlotte Tilbury - Wonder Glow - this has been an on-going favorite of mine. I like to mix it into my foundation for a dewy effect.
                  - Make Up For ever - Artist Lip Blush - a true matte pinky mauve lip color - not too drying to the lips, I typically like to apply this over a balm.
                  - Lancome - Juicy Shaker (Wondermelon) - I've been on a hunt for these for about 2 months and they are a cheaper alternative than the YSL Teint-in-oils. Each color has a different scent and it provides great moisturization and a gloss to your lips that doesn't feel too thick and the best is that your hair won't get caught in it!
                  - Bobbi Brown - Light Peach blush - Spring and Summer for me is all about the coral and peach blushes - it pairs nicely with a tan.
                  - Elizabeth Arden - Sunset Bronze Prismatic Bronzing Powder - Warm Bronze 01- A beautiful blend of different tones of brown and beige, some have a satin finish to it -it gives you a subtle glow. No oompa-loompas here!
                  - Mikayla Beauty - Luxury Lip Butter Balm (French Vanilla) - Really moisturizing and weightless on the lips, smells like dessert and well...need I say more?
                  - The silver glitter small Z-palette. I find that the only way I will use my individual shadows is if I store it in site - I had them all in a large Make Up For Ever tin palette before and would typically forget about them.

                  Review: Mary Kay Botanical Effects Skincare Line*


                  I was recently sent the Botanical Effects Skincare line from Mary Kay for review and as an avid skincare lover, I was very intrigued to try out some skincare from them. In addition to this line, they also have ones dedicated to dry, normal and oily skin - all with their own cleanser, mask, facial spritz (almost like a toner), and moisturizer. 

                  For this review/blog post, I will be focusing on the products in the photo - this specific line is aimed at those individuals who are not showing signs of aging but want to take care of it and keep it refreshed and nourished. The key ingredient in this skincare line is the dragonfruit and aloe ~ which means theres tons of antioxidants and vitamins, minerals and fatty acids. 

                  What I really like about this skincare line is that it is free of sulfates, paraben, fragrance and is oil free. In addition, it won't clog pores and is suitable for those even with sensitive skin as it has been tested for skin irritations and allergies by dermatologists. 



                  Above we have the cleansing gel ($21 cad), it contains coconut derived ingredients and works well to completely cleanse your face of any makeup without stripping it. I have included an image of the products on my hand below so you can see the consistency. It is lightweight and gel form and does not strip your skin at all - in fact your face is left feeling very refreshed and moisturized with a glow. 



                  The invigorating scrub ($21 cad) contains fruit seeds that naturally help you to exfoliate your skin without irritating it. This isn't a necessarily very gritty exfoliator, there is more gel in ratio to the exfoliants, but it still works well enough to make you feel like it is indeed cleansing and ridding dead skin cells on your face as it feels a lot cleaner. 



                  The refreshing toner ($21 cad) in addition to the dragon fruit extract, it also contains witch hazel which helps to add another cleansing component to the skin by removing oils, bacteria and closing the pores. It also helps with oil production on the face so I love it as I do get quite oily in the tzone for the summer months. 

                  Lastly, *TIP* it is so important to not forget toner as it really does help to cleanse the face of anything the cleanser might not have picked up and it preps your skin for the rest of your skincare routine - i.e. your essence, serum and moisturizer. 




                  The moisturizing gel ($21 cad) is said to keep your skin moisturized for at least 12 hours - and while I often already do my next cycle of skincare (i.e. night time skin routine regiment or shower etc), I do feel like it efficiently keeps my skin hydrated enough and it doesn't feel dry or irritated. As this is a gel formula, a little goes a long way - I use about a pea size and it is good enough for my entire face.

                  Review, Swatch & Tutorial: Urban Decay - Naked Cherry Collection*


                  Urban Decay recently launched their Cherry palette (after retiring their original Naked Palette that was my holy grail for so many years when I first decided to seriously dive into beauty blogging), retailing for $66). It features 12 never-before-picked neutrals in a warm tone color spectrum. There are 7 mattes and 5 shimmer/metallics in total and I have them all swatched below for you!


                  The mattes buff and blend like a dream on the lid (there is kick-off when you dip your brush in the pan but there is no fallout on the lid - so that doesn't affect me at all). The shimmers/metallics are beautiful when foiled with a setting spray. I personally found the darker hues more vibrant in tone - the ones all swatched in the right photo below. The lighter shades did well as a highlight or shadow for a halo effect. I used the shadows exactly as divided below in my two different eyelooks that I created and paired with the three lipsticks that I swatched as well. This palette can help you easily create a neutral eye look and transition into something darker and more dramatic - the full size mirror makes this ideal for travelling as well. 


                  Urban Decay also created two new shades of 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils that pair nicely with the shadow palette. These eyeliners are the only high-end pencil liners that I go to all the time - once applied, they stay on all day and do not budge! The two shades are Love Drug - a deep wine metallic and Black Market - a black satin shade. These can also be used as a shadow base - just build it on the lid and buff out quickly before it dries, you have about 30 seconds! These retail for $25 each.


                  Lastly, you also have three limited-edition lipsticks in two metallized and one cream formula. Juicy is a light peach-pijnk with copper micro-shimmer, Devilish is a berry pink with tonal micro-shimmer and Cherry is a deep berry wine. These retail for $22 each.


                  Below you will find the two looks I have created - a neutral one with the lighter palettes, more of a daytime look, on the top row and a darker more dramatic one done with the darker mattes in the palette on the bottom row. All three lipsticks are also swatched with both looks to show that they do indeed go with any eyelook you create with this palette and they really compliment each other.

                  March 2016 Favorites


                  This post will be short and sweet as I just want to share with you my favorites for March 2016. It's been a busy month, and time just completely flew by. I didn't do much in terms of experimenting with new makeup and skin-care products - work was busy and I just reached for mostly the same products everyday.

                  1. BH Cosmetics - Carli Bybel Eyeshadow and Hilighter Palette - I like this palette because it contains shadows from the two color groups that I like - browns and purples. This also contains hilighters so it's quite practical if you ever want to go travelling, to just carry this palette with you. At $12.50 it's also a steal! The pigmentation is beautiful and buttery, it's well worth your money and I suggest you go get it, even though you may not follow or know who Carli Bybel is (a YouTube beauty guru).

                   2. Poetic Blend / Mikayla Beauty - Luxury Lip Butter Balm (French Vanilla) - I knew of Mikayla well before the One of a Kind Show in Toronto through her Instagram Page. She is the creator and founder of Poetic Blend - a Canadian Skincare Company with its main focus on facial oils. I bought the Lip Balm and the Hero Oil (which I will review at a later time). The Lip Balm is ultra nourishing and smells like a vanilla cupcake with lots of yummy vanilla frosting...mmm..

                   3. NARS Christopher Kane Blush - Starscape (limited edition - sorry!) - Though this color may look quite intimidating in the pan (picture and swatch below) - it really isn't. When applied with a light fan brush, it gives the glow a rosey pop of color - the kind that you get from being in the cold and you have that flush to your cheeks. It's youthful and is totally Spring ready :) As this is a limited edition color, a similar one would be NARS - Gaiety or Buxom - Seduction.

                   4. Laura Mercier - Secret Concealer (3) - Salmon Peach toned concealer which acts as a corrector and concealer for me. It is a bit creamy, but ultra pigmented so I always make sure to set it with the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder afterwards to prevent creasing. 

                  5. Indeed Laboratories - Vitamin C24 - LOVE this product, it cured my peeling sun-damaged skin from Punta Cana - read all about my review here. 

                   6. Juicy Couture - Viva La Juicy Rose Perfume  I received this product from attending the City Line Beauty taping swag bag from Dave Lackie. It smells of fruity, fresh and crisp sweetness, without being overwhelming or nauseating. I'm normally not a fan of all the previous Juicy Couture fragrances, but this one, I can't get enough of! It just screams spring and summer and will definitely be my go-to. Hey! Did you see the packaging? Pink ombre sparkles with a champagne rose gold charm? YES!

                   7. Dior - Airflash Foundation (300) - I've raved about this foundation countless of times on my blog and it seems to have hit the YouTube beauty guru world as well. It makes you look like you have been airbrushed and one can has now lasted me a year and a half? yes it costs a fair bit, but you look at the quantity, it is almost double of that of a regular foundation. I spray it on a foundation brush, my go-to is the Sephora Pro Airbrush Foundation Brush and buff it all over my face for a seamless finish.
