Review & Swatch: Zoya - Splash (Summer 2020)*

zoya summer 2020, zoya summer swatches, zoya splash swatches, zoya splash collection, zoya summer nailpolish

I was recently fortunate enough to be sent the summer collection from one of my favorite nailpolish brands, Zoya! I have these beautiful gems all swatched below so keep on reading!

Eclipse - holographic rainbow sparkles with silver glitter suspended in a clear coat - perfect to wear alone or over your favorite shade (holographic)
Fisher - seafoam blue with a gold micro-shimmer, beautiful especially when the sun hits it on a certain angle it glistens in the sun (shimmer)
Corrina - a dusty blush pink tone with a golden shimmer - its probably one of my favorite shades! Some angles it looks like a nude pink, but others when it reflects light turns into a beautiful tone that reminds me of a shell reflecting on the beach by the shore (shimmer)
Emma - coral (cream)
Jodi - bold pastel pink (cream)
Greta - a classic red (cream)

zoya summer 2020, zoya summer swatches, zoya splash swatches, zoya splash collection, zoya summer nailpolish
Leilani - Fushia pink with golden micro shimmer running through - gives the illusion of it looking kind of orange/grapefruit toned in some angles under the sun (shimmer)
Kristie - magenta (cream)
Celi - Cherry red with gold micro-shimmer (shimmer)
Harbor - bold turquoise green (cream)
Maren - nautical blue (cream)
Jessica - eggplant purple (cream)

As always, all swatches are done with two coats however like I've repeatedly mentioned before in my prior posts covering Zoya polishes, their cream formulation is so good that you can easily get away with one coat. My stand-out shades for this collection include Corrina, Jodi and Leilani - these three shades are unique and ones I haven't seen before. I have nothing like it in my current collection is what I'm saying so those three are a definite yes for me!

What shades do you gravitate to? Would love to hear from you!

Until next time, XO - M

Swatch: Zoya - Calm Collection (Spring 2020)*

For Spring 2020, Zoya has released six new elegant pastel shades and named it the Calm Collection which I find the name to be very fitting. It has a combination of their creme and shimmer formula and is perfect for those who love a good nude, or a bit of color that isn't too bold.

The six shades are listed below:
Laura - true beige nude (cream)
Colleen - warm pastel pink (cream)
AJ - subtle pink with copper micro-shimmer (shimmer)
Vee - muted lilac (cream)
Emerson - cotton pastel blue (cream)
Leif - saje green (cream)

Below you will see the shades swatched at two coats each. Result: no streaks with full opacity! WOO!

Of the six shades, the three I'm gravitating to are Leif and AJ because they are more unique ones that I haven't seen before.

Would love to hear which ones are your favorite!

Until next time, XO - M

Swatch: Zoya - Twinkling (Holiday 2019)*

For this year's Holiday launch, Zoya has released its Twinkling Collection completed with 12 shades in a variety of finishes that retails for $10 usd a bottle. I have these beautiful babies swatched below so I'd love to know which ones are your favorite shades!

I am always so surprised to see how some of these polishes swatch as what I normally would not gravitate to, or would think look a certain way when swatched always surprises me and looks completely different - for example the shade Jett below, I thought would be a silver top coat - but it ended up being a fully opaque silver shade with glitter running through it and dries down matte. Such a wonderful surprise, I love it!

Swatched from left to right we have:
Jett - frosted silver with glitter (metallic) that dries to a matte
Alessia - icy blue with silver glitter (metallic)
Jen - sapphire blue (pearl)
Sedona - deep burgundy (pearl)
Gabi - dark rich eggplant purle (cream)
Rosa - a bright fuschia pink  (pearl)

Swatched from left to right:
Kaede -gold metallic fleck with a holo foil - works great as an overlay.
Enza - beige macadamia (cream)
Steph - pastel ballet baby pink (cream)
Mai - rosewood (cream)
Tieran - charcoal grey (cream)
Tanya - festive holiday red (cream)

The shades I really loved this time include: Jett, Alessia, Gabi, Tanya and Tieran.

All of the polishes are swatched with two coat to deliver that even finish.

Until next time, XO - M.

Review& Swatch: Zoya - Sensual Collection (Fall 2019)*

You can't deny it even you wanted to, the temperatures are dropping, the air is cooler, evenings and mornings are more crisp and the leaves are changing colors and i'm all for it. Sign me up for the leggings, oversized sweaters and fall colors, the burgundies, berries, darker hues and a good old neutral shade.

Zoya's Fall 2019 collection just about sums up my color palette for this season and the formulations come in cream and metallic.

From left to right:

Joss - a beautiful baby pink neutral (cream)
KInsley - caramel beige with a slight blush tone (cream)
Foster - the shade of milk chocolate, mmm (cream)
Briar - red-toned teracotta (cream)
Margaret - vivid aubern red (cream)
Rashida - ruby red with red micropearl (shimmer)

Etta - dark cabernet with violet micropearl (shimmer)
Michaela - dusty purple taupe (cream)
Ripley - rich boysenberry (cream)
Vesper - violet grey (cream)
Elliot - dark ocean blue (cream)
Ashton .- silverish black tone with a scattered silver micropearl (shimmer)

These polishes have an amazing formulation, I've said this before with all of my past Zoya posts, their cream tones can often give you a flawless finish in one layer. Their shimmers I would recommend two.

My favorite shades are Foster, Kinsley, Vesper and Ashton - what are yours?

Until next time, XO - M.

Review & Swatch: Zoya - Barefoot (Summer 2019)*

The warmer weather is here, and so are the shorts, the t-shirts and the sandals. Wearing sandals means having an extra set of nails to show off some gorgeous colors, and well if you like either neutrals, bolds or berries and reds - I think the Summer 2019 Barefoot Collection is perfect for you. There is literally a shade for everyone!

If you are a follower of my blog, you will know by now that Zoya makes some of my favorite nail polishes, their formulations are A+ and I am such a big fan - you can see my past posts here.

This collection has 12 polishes total and has a range of creams, satin shimmer finishes as well as glitters and a chunky glitter top coat. All swatches below are done with two coats but please note that most of their cream finishes can pass with one coat.

From Left to Right:
1. Joey - warm light pastel pink (cream)
2. Tessa - a salmon pink tone with micro gold and coral shimmers
3. Keira - champagne sandy taupe shade with fine copper shimmer
4. Marcy - bright hot red coral shimmer
5. Liza - a deep rich red (cream)
6. Robbie - raspberry pink with golden flecks inside - one coat is a bit sheer like a jelly donut finish, two makes it fully opaque.

From Left to Right:
7. Dacey - hot pink (cream)
8. Rie - grape purple (cream)
9. Walker - deep ocean blue (cream)
10. Eleni -  seafoam pastel baby blue (cream)
11. Bee -  pastel yellow (cream)
12. Dallas - clear polish with silver and white glitter, with larger white hexagon-shaped glitter

Which shades are your favorite? Mine has to be Eleni, Dacey, Bee and Keira.

Until next time, XO -M.

Review: My Current Favorite Hand-Creams*

While we are getting glimpses of warmer weather here in Toronto, Winter isn't quite over yet! I know because well, it's still cold plus my hands are still suffering the effects of the weather with the occasional eczema flare-up. It takes me a while to find some hand creams that do not irritate me, so I had to share my findings with you now that I have narrowed it down to my top 5.

Why 5 you say? well, each one is different - in terms of scent and availability. Honorable mention does go to the Fresh - Seaberry Nourishing Hand Cream that I have been using every winter for the last 2-3 years, that stuff is amazing! But hey, I need to try something new right?

I will review the products from left to right in the above image, so if you're interested in learning more, then keep on reading below!

Review and Swatch: Zoya - Innocence (Spring 2019)*

Zoya brings to us this Spring, the Innocence Collection, which is a set of 6 polishes that is said to evoke the feeling of nature and the "transitions from Winter to Summer. Complete with its own thunderstorm in the color Theo, this collection is stormy and subtle, yet features a touch of brightness and softness". I would have to say that the description of this collection is pretty spot on - I am really feeling the grey-ish hue vibes of all the polishes.

Agnes: A powder pink in its cream formula
Birch: A grey toned lavender in a cream formula.
Fern: A saje green with an iridescent pearl shimmer that also subtly reflects a champagne hue.
Aire: A periwinkle blue in a cream formula.
Evette: Grape Purple in cream formulation.
Theo: A dark grey with irregular silver flakes throughout with a mix of dark blue glitter.

What I really appreciate in Zoya polishes, is their consistent attention to their formulations. In the above polishes, I could get away with one layer if I wanted to - but just to make sure I get a thoroughly even application, I always just do two to be safe. The shade Theo for sure needed two, and even perhaps three coats if you wanted it fully opaque as it is a glitter formulation. Each shade retails for $10 usd each.

Just a reminder, that you can now order the Z-wide brushes to provide you with an even easier application with its wider brush.

Out of all the shades, my favorite would have to be Fern and Birch, Agnes too is quite beautiful but Fern and birch are really beautiful shades. Fern is something I haven't seen before, and I have alot of nail polishes in my collection!

Until next time, XO - M.

Product Empties and Review: July - December 2018

In the past 5 months, I am quite proud of the amount of products used up. As usual, I have separated my review in different categories for convenience - facial wipes/puffs, cleansers and moisturizers, body products, haircare, makeup and miscellaneous.

Review & Demo: Zoya Z-Wide Brush vs. Zoya Regular Brush*

Zoya Fans rejoice! They have recently launched a brand new product which will make your nail polish application even more effortless. Introducing, the Z-Wide Brush! It has 60% more brisels than the regular classic precision brush and has curved/tapered edges to make for more efficient and distribution of polish on your nails. When you look at your nails you will see that your nail bed and cuticle area do not form a 90 degree angle up to your nail, so the curved edge really helps to apply the product right to the edge without having to be overly cautious. I can quickly and in almost half the time just do my entire hand and I don't have to focus as hard to "stay within the lines" if you know what I mean.

These brushes retail for $2 USD each and fits all existing 0.5oz nail polish bottles so it is super easy for you to make the switch!

To truly see the brush in motion, I did a quick video for you to demonstrate how quickly it takes - mind you yes, I did speed up the application part 8x but you can see how many less strokes it takes with the Z-wide brush as compared to the regular brush which held less product in its bristles, required me to dip into the bottle of polish more frequently and required more strokes to cover the nail. On the second coat, you can see that the Z-Wide brush just glided on, requiring 1-2 strokes per nail, while with the regular brush it still required 3-5 strokes depending on the nail itself.

I am already a huge fan of Zoya, I have written about them countless of times here on the blog, and being a fan of the polish itself, I am now SO happy they came out with the wider brush - it really just completes the package and honestly makes for the perfect brand of polish for me!

Until next time, XO - M.

Review and Swatch: Zoya Jubilee Collection - Holiday 2018*

Tis the Season to be Jolly, Fa-la-la-la-laaaaaa-la-la-la-la!!! Zoya is getting you ready for this Holiday season with their Jubilee collection, which contains a mix of 12 polishes in a range of creams, luxe metals and a special effect topper (black leopard print - ooo!). There's something for everyone in this collection, from nudes to rich and brilliant jewel tones. If you're interested in seeing them all swatched, then keep on reading below.

Review & Swatch: Zoya Element Collection*

Zoya has launched its Element Collection which contains 12 fall-worthy shades ranging from a dusty rose pink to a dark aubergine hue that will surely suit any nail polish fan like myself. In addition, they have included two glitter polishes that reflects a beautiful foil finish which you shall see in the swatches below.

As per my usual nail swatch posts, I have labelled them by bottles and also have included nail swatches of them right below. Please note that all polish swatches contain two layers - however the cream finishes really only need one, especially the lighter colors - this is why I really love Zoya polishes because they deliver such opacity in their formulations and are truly a high quality product.

For those of you who do not know, Zoya polishes contain a breathable BIG 10 FREE formulation, meaning it is safe for use by pregnant moms.

From left to right we have:
Donnie - Sangria (cream)
Rachael - mulberry (cream)
Leighton - aubergine (cream)
Gardner - a periwinkle magenta foil finish
Alyssa - cranberry (cream)
Rumor - mauvey pink pearl (shimmer)

From left to right we have:
Ruthie - raspberry rose pink (cream)
Jenna - rosey pink (cream)
Kendra - marsala (cream)
Maeve - concord grape (cream)
Devin - a steel blue which shifts to a multicolor dense foil finish.
Maryanne - rose tone pearl (shimmer)

This truly is a beautiful fall collection and my favorite shade would have to be Rumor, Donnie and Maeve. I highly suggest that you pick a few of these polishes up if possible! They are high gloss, pigmented and perform so well. I can go about 6-7 days without a chip, and sometimes more, and I cook, clean and take care of a baby :)

Until next time, XO - M.

Product Empties and Review: March - June 2018

It's time to round up some of the products I've used up in the last 3 months and I've sorted them into categories below - skincare/bodycare, foundations/primers/concealer, mascaras, misc and makeup. Keep on reading below to see what I will repurchase again and what I really enjoyed.

Swatch: Zoya Sunshine Collection*

For Summer 2018, Zoya has released their Sunshine Collection which features 12 polishes that scream summer! It's fun, bright and utterly perfection. I have swatched all of them below for you so that you can see how they translate from bottle to my hand and how its like dried down. All of the polishes required two coats to achieve full opacity and were not patchy.

Zoya definitely makes my favorite creme finishes, if you try it out you will know what I mean. They have really developed a quality product and whenever I need something reliable, I always go to them. I have been using Zoya polishes for so many years.

My favorite shades are Minnie, Ellie, Virginia and Saldana as a top coat is truly unique with its purple silver shift. What are yours?

What is great about Zoya is that they are safe for Pregnant Moms! With their wide variety of finishes and shades you are bound to find something that will suit your personal taste. You will no longer feel guilty for wearing nail polish when you're pregnant. I wish I had remembered this when I was pregnant, I went 9 months without any polish and I was going crazy because I am the type of girl that does her nails 1-2x a week.

Until next time, XO - M.
