Sephora 2016 VIB Rouge Appreciation Week Event Recap + Haul

Sephora 2016 VIB Rouge Appreciation Week Event Recap + Haul, Stila star light star bright hilighting palette, Marc Jacobs Roleplay Lipstick, canadian beauty blogger, beauty blogger, Canada, Toronto, Beauty Blog, Make up haul, sephora haul, sephora vib rouge event

For most of you beauty lovers out there, you are probably well aware that Sephora has just started their VIB Appreciation Week which started yesterday and is set to end on the 17th. During this week, Beauty Insider members get 2x the points on their purchases, VIBs gets 3x and VIB Rouges get 4x the points. The Rouge members get an exclusive chance to shop before stores open to the public and to other members - they usually have coffee + light refreshments, brand reps to give you personalized advice and the best part is, the VIB Rouge members get access to holiday items that have not yet been released in stores.

As I have recently moved, this was my first time attending the event at the Vaughan Mills location. I have to say, it was very organized, store was clean, and they had a good inventory of the holiday products. The only setback is that although you may want to shop to your hearts content, alot of the lines they have there didn't have a big enough range of products - for e.g. Eaton Center has the entire Marc Jacobs blush collection already on their gondolas, but Vaughan doesn't even have one.  Regardless, my mission this time was not to get alot of product as I typically wait til the event in November where you actually get a % off your purchase - typically for VIB Rouge members, it is about 15-20% off.

Since this was just a point stocking event, I really just wanted to get the one thing I had my eyes set on - the Stila hilighter palette (seen below) that I had the chance to see at the ACI preview event a few weeks ago.

In the above picture, the items featured were given to us upon entry into the store (no purchase necessary). With a $35 purchase, you were given an additional cosmetic bag, featured below which contains more deluxe samples. I typically love to keep these deluxe samples as they are quite convenient when you are travelling - I will have a post coming soon on "What's in My Travel Bag" - I will link it here when it's up.

As previously mentioned, I had only made two small purchases this time around as I only wanted the new limited edition Stila Hilighter Palette. The Marc Jacobs Lipstick was an impulse purchase (heh!)

If you haven't taken a look at the Stila Palette, I HIGHLY recommend that you do ASAP. The texture of this reminds me of the putty foundation Stlia released earlier this year that I am absolutely in love with. These hilighters give you a sheer, dewy and lit from within glow, I use the Stila multi purpose brush for that putty foundation to apply this specific product on the high points of my face. I would do some swatch pics for you, but I didn't have time yesterday to take some pics and now I'm travelling for work. I had actually posted swatches from the event on Snapchat a while back, so for those of you who haven't followed me yet -  I suggest you do as I have started to snap about PR samples I receive as well as some initial product reviews/swatches.

The Marc Jacobs lipstick (in Roleplay), though may appear to have a slight brown tone to it, actually comes out as a mauvey pink shade - it's one of those "my lips but better" shades that you can effortlessly apply without having to find a mirror to make sure it looks perfect. This color is quite forgiving and is a perfect everyday color for me.

For those of you who attended the event, how did you find it in your local store? In addition, what were some of the items you picked up? I'd love to hear about it!

SEPHORA 2017 holiday preview haul & event re-cap

The most exciting time for me at Sephora (besides the VIB Rouge Sales) would have to be the preview events - especially the Holiday ones! When I received the e-mail invite to the VIB Rouge Holiday preview event weeks ago, I immediately responded with "yes" and started saving some money especially for this sale.

Having gone for a few years now, I know that Sephora has some incredible deals on Holiday collections, and I typically wait until the Holiday season to stock up on anything that I may need for the remainder of the year (also I use the discount sale days to do that too - the one in spring and fall).

Regardless, I was up at 8am this morning, and headed to Vaughan Mills to see what goodies there were - I of course had to include a few pictures for you to preview ~ and if you're interested in what I purchased, just keep on reading.

The Sephora Skin Favorites Set was sold out within 15-20 minutes from the start of the event - at $69 it was an incredible deal considering the generous product sizes of the skincare items as well as a full sized First Aid Beauty Coconut Primer as well as a Foreo Electronic Cleanser that typically retails for around $49 I want to say. The set itself is valued at $209 and you bet I was quick to grab one of these.

Another great deal worth noting is the Benefit Brownanza! Blockbuster set  housed in this adorable packaging that would look fabulous on your vanity or beauty room - it contains I believe 4-5 full sized products and a few minis for $79 - a $200 value.

For those of you who love Beauty Blenders - a set of 4 was $100 with a BB holder as well.  This is called the Blenders For All Seasons set. To me, I opted out of this one only because I liked the prior year's holder more - the one with the pink jewels on the holder? This one seemed a bit cheap to me - it looked kinda like the acrylic powder nail holders at the salon? the crystal bowl thing?

While I am writing up this re-cap post, I just got an e-mail saying some of these items are already on sale online for rouge members - like the Tarte - Limited Edition Treasure Box Collector's Set below - $77.

Alright, as for the actual haul - the products I bought included: The Benefit - City Lights, Party Nights set for $42 which includes deluxe sizes of They're Real Mascara, They're Real double the lip, Dandelion Twinkle and a full size of Precisely My Brow in Shade 3 (my shade!) woo!

Of course as mentioned above, I had to grab the Sephora Skin Wonderland set!

Lastly, with the purchase of $50, we were gifted the below make-up bag that is actually REALLY good quality - it's thick and durable with embossed lips on the exterior. I would definitely put this one to use! It's probably one of the best make-up bags Sephora has given out! and within the bag, housed alot of beauty samples!

Were you able to attend the Sephora event today? If not, what are you most excited about getting this year?

Until next time, XO - M

Spring 2017 Sephora VIB Rouge Sale Haul

Twice a year, Sephora has a special sale for its VIB and VIB Rouge customers. In the spring the percentage is usually VIB - 10% and VIB Rouge 15% off. Around November, the sale is usually VIB - 15% and 20% for VIB Rouge members (don't quote me on that though as that number can change anytime). As mentioned in my previous posts, (the one from 2015 and 2014), I save up my money and buy things that I need to get a back-up for (things I love) and things I'm really interested in trying. Being a beauty blogger, though I do get sent alot of the product I review on this site, I still have items that I want to try 1) before other reviews surface or 2) that I am genuinely interested in or lastly 3) if it's limited edition.

If you're interested in seeing what I got, then keep on reading below...

Summer 2018 Beauty Haul and Review

It's been a while since I really did a haul post or have purchased a few things all together, so I thought I'd switch things up and share with you my purchases from the summer from the Jaclyn Hill Vault Collection, these amazing Japanese makeup brushes and last of all my Sephora VIB Rouge Event haul. Typically in past years, I would do some serious damage in the Sephora sale events, but being on maternity leave now, I eased up and just bought a few items as a gift to myself.

First, we have some items from the Jaclyn Hill Vault Collection. I purchased the Armed & Gorgeous Palette, the Master Case to hold makeup brushes and two brushes, the Inner Corner Highlight and Carve Your Crease brush. I have heard such mixed reviews of the palettes so I really could not justify purchasing all four of them. I bought one with unique shades that I don't currently have and its mostly the ones in this palette. The makeup brush case is excellent for travel, it has a magnetic type closure that shuts and won't become loose. It's big so you can hold alot of things and has a hard case to make sure your contents are protected.

Next, a totally unexpected purchase, but I had to do it to support someone I had met a few years back, Bo Vanders - he is a talented make-up artist and had worked with this company called Rephr to create a few classic make-up brushes that are handmade by Japanese artisans. I have always been a user of Hakuhodo brushes, for about 8 years now? and honestly these are so comparable to them, but at a much lower price point, making it very affordable for anyone who wants some high quality brushes to add to their kit or collection. The bristles are so soft, and it picks up pigment and blends out powders like a dream, diffusing it effortlessly on the skin making it look like second skin and natural. I highly suggest that you purchase a few brushes for yourself! Last I saw, one of the eye brushes was already sold-out, so act quick!

Lastly, below are the items I had purchased from the Sephora VIB Rouge Sale. I have the Beauty Blender Sapphire, the Hourglass - Veil Prime & Set Travel Set and lastly the Buxom - Powerplump Lip Balm in Big O, a sheer pink that adjusts to your pH level to give you a customized pink perfect for your lips.

What have been some of your purchases this summer? I'd love to hear about them!

Until next time, XO - M.

Sephora Spring VIB ROUGE Haul

As promised, I would post the contents of my haul the minute I got home. I went to the Sephora VIB Rouge event this morning, which was a closed event from 9-11am before it opened to the public. I am quite proud of the fact that I did not pick up any blushes. It took alot from me, considering I am a blush lover. However, enough is enough. I picked up a few essentials - the Too Faced Primed and Poreless (I wanted to try the new MUFE Smoothing Primer, but it was $10 more for the same value). I also replenished my Living Proof items and my Nails Inc holy grail topcoat.

I am still on the fence about the Becca Illuminator - part of me wants to return that, and just pay more and get the Sephora Favorites kit, which includes all items I will need for the rest of the year. i.e Ole Henrickson Truth Vit. C serum, Hourglass Primer, Blush, Setting Powder and so much more.

Products purchased are:
- Kevyn Aucoin - The Contour Book
- Living Proof - 5 in 1 Perfect Hair Day styling treatment
- Living Proof - Flex shaping hairspray
- Too Faced - Melted Fig liquid lipstick
- Fresh - Sugar Lychee Rollerball
- Sephora Shadow - Duo Reflect in Mermaid Tail
- Nails Inc - 45 sec Caviar topcoat
- Nails Inc - Lilly Road (hopefully this will be the perfect baby pink polish)
- Too Faced - Primed and Poreless
- Becca - Moonstone liquid illuminator/primer.

To be honest, I am quite disappointed with the VIB Rouge Gift - Being a VIB rouge really hasn't given me alot of perks, I'm not sure if it's because in Canada things are different than in the U.S. The one and only full sized item I got - the polish was bad, it was light grey with yellow chunks and it was separated no matter how much I shaked it. BOO. What a waste!

There are still a few items I have to pick up online, I want the Clinique Cheek Pops and the Embroylisse Moisturizer and Clinique Moisture Surge for summer.

What did you guys pick up? what are you planning to get? Please share!
Until nxt time, XO - M.

My Sephora VIB ROUGE Spring 2018 Haul

I have done this type of post before where I like to post my haul from the Sephora VIB Rouge Events. If you would like to see my previous ones, click here. This time, I restocked on some of my favorites (which proves how much I really do love it, like the Nails Inc 45 second caviar top coat). In addition, it was a great time to try some new items out that I've had my eye on in a while to see if it works for me or not. If you're interested in my thoughts below (I also did a small review of the products I got since some time has passed now), then keep on reading below...

2015 Sephora VIB Sale and Black Friday Haul

I hope all of you had a lovely Christmas this year - I spent mine with family starting with Christmas Service on Christmas Eve and then various family events on the 25th. This is a long overdue post, instead of opting to forego posting this since a significant time has passed since the VIB sale, I decided to still post it and have it count as some light reading for you guys :)

Like always, I take advantage of this sale to stock up on items that I always use, and also on Christmas gifts :) This year was like no other, I picked up a few items I have always wanted to try out, and also, since Christmas has now passed, I also picked up a few gifts for my friends and family.

Ever since being selected by Influenster to try out the Laneige Water Gel Sleeping Mask, I was hooked on Laneige products. My husband needed some toner, so I picked up the toner and sparkling foam cleanser.

I actually had picked up TWO of the Bumble and Bumble thickening dryspun finish sets, however one of them was already gifted to my friend, and the other is for me. The Holiday season is the perfect time to pick up value sets - for the same price as a stand alone thickening drys spun finish spray, during the holidays in this set, it comes with deluxe thickening shampoo and conditioners.

The Shiseido Benefiance was a gift for my mom. She had told me that she wanted one, so I took advantage of this 20% off sale to pick one up for her.

The Tarte palette was for one of my really good friends, Meagan

For those who were invited to the VIB Rouge Pre-Sale event, were handed loot bags that were actually really good this year. I never had the heart to drop $150 on the Fresh Honey Mask, so to get a deluxe sample was like wining the jackpot for me. Also, a few other items included were things that I've wanted to try (Glam Glow eye mask, Benefit Brow) and products I already love (Clinique - Moisture Surge and Kat Von D - lipsticks).

Finally, I picked up the Fresh seaberry hand cream and the Too Faced Hangover Rx Primer for the coming cold winter weather in Toronto :)

The second haul below is from the Black Friday sale - at $13 each, I also picked up the below items as advanced holiday gifts for people as well. In addition, there was a Sephora promotion where you got the below sample bag included with your purchase.

Note to you guys, always take advantage of Sephora promotions. to get a sample bag with a makeup bag is always a nice bonus.

Come back soon to see my 2015 Favorites Round-Up.

Until next time - XO, M.

Sephora VIB Rouge Haul - Winter 2017

It's been so long since the VIB Rouge event happened that I was contemplating whether or not to even post this. However, I do still get the occasional question on what I purchase since I do get sent some PR for review on occasion. "What would you actually spend your money on?" is a question I get most often....well, I buy things randomly here and there but I thought I'd share this haul with you.

Lip Products
1. Hourglass - GIRL Lip Stylo in Liberator, a deep berry (left) and Creator, a pinky nude (right). I have since returned Liberator as it just looked so different at home then at the store - the Sephora lighting is too good. These lippies are something that I've had my eye on for a while now, they are balmy in texture but delivers a beautiful wash of color to the lips like a lipstick. They are hydrating and do not settle in dry spots or lines.

2. YSL - Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lipstain. From left to right the colors are: 11, 5, 19, 3 and 20.  I have reviewed these in a post with swatches included as well. If you want to know why I purchased so many of these even after I was sent 3 for PR, then you have to read the post.

Face Products
1. Touch In Sol - No Pore-Blem Primer - This is a relatively inexpensive primer in the market compared to its competitors. It promises to mattify your skin as well as to even out any large pores.

2. NARS - Liquid Blush - originally, I had bought Torrid online, a warm coral with golden shimmer. However, upon testing the product it was just too dark for me and it was hard to apply it without looking too pigmented and strong. I even tried using a sesame sized amount on the cheeks and it was just too hard to control. I since exchanged it for the color Orgasm and I am loving it!

Face and Other Products
1. Glamglow - Power Cleanser - bought this product as it was already on sale and the reviews were good, I have yet to use this so I cannot comment on it however I like the concept of mud & oil to foam.

2. Fresh - Seaberry Nourishing Hand Cream - This is my third year using this product in the colder seasons, if you want to know why then read my in depth post here.

What were some of your hauls? Would love to read about them or know if you have tried any of the products listed above!

Until next time, XO - M.

LORAC, Smashbox and Girlactik Haul

The amazing Shawna recently was kind enough to offer a few of us something really special - this being said, it was to help anybody order products from Ulta. I really took advantage of this opportunity and ordered the two LORAC palettes I've had my eye on the past 2 years. Ulta unfortunately doesn't ship to Canada, and ever since I got my furbaby Bentley, I haven't taken the time to visit the states so Shawna - THANK YOU!! :)

The Lorac Pro-Palette To Go, as its name suggests, is a really convenient palette. It has neutral matte and shimmer shades, including a black shadow which you can easily use as eyeliner. It also comes with 2 blushes, one coral one pink, and a bronzer. In addition, it has 2 brushes as well, a domed and angle one (for emergencies if you need to use it, obviously).
picture from Ulta.com

The original Lorac Pro palette  offers the user 8 matte and 8 shimmer shades in a warm/neutral tone and really isn't comparable to any of the naked palettes that I own. There is more variety in this one palette - ranging from neutral browns, to purples and mauves. If you are debating between any of the 3 naked palettes or this, I would recommend this. If you are the type to only like working with a specific color range, for e.g. the original naked palette is mostly all neutral browns, then of course, go with that.

Girlactik is a brand that I was introduced to by watching all the Lustrelux videos. She always uses the Bronzer in Cabo and it looks so amazing on her, so while I was in search of a new bronzer, I definitely wanted to give this a try and OMG it is amazing. It's matte, perfect in the amount of "sunkissed" glow it gives you. It doesn't run orange or muddy on the skin and this has quickly risen to one of my most coveted products.

Lastly, I had received a gift to Sephora for Christmas that I already owned, so I had to go exchange it for something else. What caught my eye at Sephora was the new Smashbox photo-finish primer water. It is said to be silicone-free, alcohol-free and oil-free. You can use this as a primer to prep your skin for makeup application, or you can use this as a setting spray or refreshing spray. I thought honestly, this had to be a gimmick. I sprayed this on my hand and my friend Meagan's hand and we were both quite surprised at how soft our hand felt. On my hand, it instantly evened out any fine lines I had on the surface from dryness, and even after walking around Sephora trying to see if there was anything else I could exchange my gift for, I ended up going back to this. My hand felt magically soft and I had to take this baby home! Lord knows I DO NOT need any more blush, shadows (I have a Makeup Geek Haul en-route right now) and what not.

Have any of you given any of the products mentioned above a try? Let me know your thoughts!
XO, Miranda.

Sephora Spring 2015 VIB Sale Wish List

Twice a year, I do some serious damage at Sephora, and this Spring I have my eye on a few of the lovely things listed below. I have already narrowed it down ALOT... Obviously I won't be getting everything, but it's fun to make a wish list isn't it?

I will post my haul after I go on Sunday morning!! What are some of the items on your wish list?

Until next time, XO - M.

Toronto IMATS 2015 Haul

Every year around fall, the International Make Up Artist Trade Show (IMATS) makes it way to Toronto for a weekend, and beauty lovers, bloggers and make up artists flock their way to the Metro Convention Center to attend this event. Tickets usually go up for sale around August and are sold out rather quickly.

There are typically discounts and deals, and most of the time they offer tax free merchandise. This year, my haul includes the following:

I made it a mission to go to the Make Up For Ever booth first this year as they offer 40% off retail prices on their product. Last year, it was so crazy by the time I left, that I never even bothered going. I picked up 8 shadows, a large metal palette, a concealer, cream blush and mattifying primer. items that I would've wanted to pick up at Sephora and definitely more so at 40% off.

I was also in the market for new concealer and cream contour kit, and the lady at Kryolan introduced me to the color wheel below and the Make-Up Blend (mixing medium). One drop of the product onto a tiny bit of the cream pigment turns it into a perfect consistency to be applied as cream contour or a full coverage concealer.

I decided to do something fun and pick up some glitter liners/pigments from Lit after I saw Jaclyn Hill use it in her videos. With Halloween coming up and the holidays, it'd be a perfect way to add some sparkle to my regular makeup routine. I had one extra pigment thrown in for free, not sure why, but hey I'm not complaining! I picked up a Champagne toned one, Rose gold, Iridescent Silver and a Dark Blue which would look quite amazing over a black liner.

My friend Jackie entered myself and another friend on Instagram to win a pair of Esquido lashes and I can't believe that we actually won! I was able to pick up a beautiful pair at IMATS and met one of the partners, Vivian who was uber gorgeous! Unfortunately, they didn't carry the specific style we won, but I picked the one she was wearing as it was feathery and quite natural looking while being a bit dramatic.

Finally, I picked up two gel polishes from Bio Seaweed Gel. They were $13 each and I got a nice nude beige color for fall, and a lilac pinky purple. After trying these polishes out last month, I fell in love with them and decided to grab a few more. The post reviewing the Bio Seaweed Gel polishes will be coming out shortly.

Did any of you go to IMATS? What were some of the things you bought?

Until next time - XO, M.
