Review: My acne skincare routine*

pimple skincare routine, acne routine, how to clear stubborn acne, maskne solutions, acne solutions, acne skincare routine, maskne skincare routine

It will come as no surprise that this past year and a half has been unchartered territory - with that came alot of stress that really took a toll on my skin. For those who know me, know that I was fortunate enough to not have much issues with acne in the past. I would get a few hormonal pimples here and there, but never to the degree that I got it the past year. I had flare-ups all the time, some angry and cystic, and some that left some scarring on my face. It took me a long time to find a skincare routine that worked for keeping my pimples at bay and I thought that it's about time I shared it with you after I have been using these products above for the past few months+.

To summarize, I have oily combination skin and products I have been trying out varies in price ranges. So if you're interested in reading more about it, then click on the link below.
This is a gel-based cleanser that is oil and soap-free that is gentle and non-irritating. It targets pimples, acne breakouts, skin redness, pores and oily skin and does not dry it out. It contains salicylic acid and works up a gentle lather as it comes into contact with water. The cleanser also has a very subtle refreshing scent that I love and find really comforting and relaxing. This is a definite repurchase and the price point is great. One pump is all you need to remove traces of makeup and dirt so this bottle will last you a long time.

This is a great alternative as well, I use this cleanser at night and the Normaderm in the AM. It foams gently, is unscented and helps to remove makeup, dirt and reduce blackheads, acne and blemishes while unclogging pores. This works for all skin types as well and it has really been working for me. I do like to remove my makeup separately first however before I use this.

This toner has been a godsend to me, seriously, not even exaggerating. My husband even started using this and loved it. It is lighweight, gentle, alcohol-free and contains 2% BHA that helps to gently exfoliate, cleaning out the pores and controlling oil production without ever leaving your skin feel tight, parched and dry.

This is a great alternative to the above that costs less, this is formulated specifically for oily and acne prone skin. It leaves the skin feeling mattified and recues shine and helps to unclog/tighten large pores. This formula also contains Salicylic and Glycolic acid which helps to fight breakouts and imperfections. The skin feels soothed and balanced after using it and never feels dried out either.

This is a light-weight almost gel-like formulation that contains 6 active dermalogical ingredients like 2% salicylic acid, hyaluronic acid and probiotics. All of these ingredients help to clear acne concerns such as pimples, pores and shine and is perfect for summer too being so light-weight. It doesn't clog the skin and does not feel heavy at all.

This is a daily, light-weight all over acne serum that has 2% salicylic acid within to help target blemishes and prevents new ones from spawning. It works great on all skintypes and I use it at night before bed. It truly does keep pimples from coming up because when I stop using it for 2-3 days, I get that random flare-up.

I use this as a spot-treatment that helps to control excessive oil production and prevents acne formation. It has salicylic acid to boost skin's metabolic rate and softens the outer layer of skin. It contains sulfur to relieve the acne-affected skin and zinc oxide to help remove excess sebum and reduce shine. There is also Vitamin B5 to boost skin's radiance and strengthen the surface of the skin and tea-tree oil to purify. I have gone through two bottles of this already, and it beats any similar products to this I've tried. You shake this up before use as it separates when settled. This is the best spot treatment I've used and I will continue to repurchase it.

This is a thick paste almost resembling like a mud/clay mask consistency that you dab onto your pimples and leave overnight. It helps to accelerate the spot maturation process and helps it to disappear quickly. It contains Zinc Oxide and other ingredients like Salicylic Acid to really help speed up the recovery of pimples. I use this when I have a really stubborn angry pimple and I layer this on top of the Naruko's Tea Tree Blemish Lotion and when I wake up in the morning I notice that it has recovered by half the time it usually does.

So there you have it, it took me months to find the routine that worked for me, and I really have to attest to the fact that they all have really worked for me or else I would not recommend any of it to you. Use these together, or find the one product that you really need.

Until next time, XO - M.
