Review: What's New From Jouviance? - Fall 2018*

Jouviance is a brand that I have been using on and off for the past two years - my most recent experience with them is with their Coconut Melting Balm which not only helped myself but with assisting in reducing the inflammation of my baby's diaper rash. As such, I am always interested in trying what other hidden treasures lie within the new launches from Jouviance. If you are in learning what was recently launched - then keep on reading below.

5% Glycolic Acid Mask - $40 cad for 60 mL
This helps to gently exfoliate your face and addresses skin concenrs like hyperpigmentation, pore-size, sun-damage, blackheads, pimples and also works to promote a smoother complexion. It is suggested that you apply this mask to cleansed skin for 10-15 minutes and then rinse with warm water and follow-up with a moisturizer to hydrate the skin (2-3x/week).

10% Glycolic Acid Soft Peel Lotion - $40 for 100 mL
This is to be used both night and day - it has 8% glycolic acid and 2% salicylic acid, suitable for all skin types especially those with oily skin. The ingredients work well to detox the skin while exfoliating it. It also helps with what was mentioned above in the mask as well as on acne breakouts (because of the salicylic acid). I like to use this in replacement of my toner after I cleanse my skin and then follow-up with a serum and moisturizer. Also I found that it really helped with my sebum and oil control as well and my t-zone didn't require as much blotting through the day.

Hydractiv Serum - $40 for 50mL
This serum is great for those with dryness and dehydration (that would be probably everyone during the colder seasons). It helps to soothe and brighten the skin  and works to stimulate the production of hyaluronic acid (my favorite). Use this both morning and night after cleansing. I liked pairing this with the Glycolic products above to help protect the skin.

Hydroactive Creme-Gel - $50 for 30mL
This is like the more intense gel moisturizer version of the serum. It helps to hydrate the skin and lock in moisture as well as promoting the production of hyaluronic acid as well. I apply this immediately after the serum and my skin feels plump and hydrated and my make-up applies effortlessly afterwards. I tend to gravitate towards gel formulations because it absorbs quickly and doesn't disrupt my getting ready routine.

SkinGlowFX Skin Perfecting Blur Cream - $50 for 30mL
This product is used to brighten, correct and even-out your skintone. It is said to ensure longevity in your make-up application and mattifies combination and oily skin. It blurs imperfections (redness, blemishes, darkspots and dullness) and minimizes the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles while delivering an airbrushed effect.

While I cannot attest to the blurring of redness, blemishes and dark spots (as I do not have them often), but I do however find that it helps with dullness as upon initial application of the cream there is a pearlescent finish to it. The shimmer does blend out and disappear so it does leave behind a matte and even canvas. I had applied this on the back of one hand and compared it to my other hand after 5 minutes and I noticed an immediate difference. The side with the product on it had no fine lines at all - it was smooth which is where the airbrushed component comes in. I didn't really notice a scent either and it is weightless.

I am super excited to try this out as I have always wanted to try out a product like this but having been pregnant the past year and then having my baby and breastfeeding for a few months, I didn't have the opportunity to. This product contains two sides, one to be used in the day (mascara wand side) and night (the brush side). It works to stimulate the growth of lashes and brows and increase the length of them. It also helps with maintaining and building on the density and reducing loss of hairs. It protects both the lashes and brows against damages caused by UV exposure and slows down any premature aging. To notice a big difference, you are said to use for about 8 weeks - I had only used it for 2-3 weeks but already I notice that they are denser and less hairs are falling out (which was a problem I had, especially during my postpartum hair loss phase). Before I could rub my eye and would lose 3-4 lashes, now they feel stronger and I don't encounter the same issue.

Final Thoughts:
Out of the six new products mentioned, I would personally recommend you to try at least one of the Glycolic items (depending on whether or not you are a user of Glycolic Acid, I would say if you are new to it, to start with the 5% mask and see if you like it). I personally like the 10% peel lotion as I notice a radiance and brightening effect after. In addition, I would recommend the gel moisturizer (especially with winter coming) and the Skin Perfecting Blur Cream. I like using this as a primer for make-up since the weather is now colder, it provides me with more of a moisture barrier while doing what I need it to do, which is keeping my t-zone as matte as it can be - you can also considering combining this with other primers and use it for different areas of the face.

Until next time, XO -M.
