February to April 2017 Empties and Review*

One of my favorite things to do is to read about empties posts and watch empties videos. The reason is, I can spend all the time doing tutorials or writing reviews, but those products are either first impressions, or products I recently received and haven't spent a long enough time using yet. With empties however, you know for a fact that you've spent a very long time using these products and that you've had more than a fair shot to determine whether or not you like them or would repurchase them again and recommend to your friends, families or readers.

As usual, I have separated them into different categories so that it'd be easier for you to follow :)  So if you're interested in reading about my last few months' worth of empties, then keep on reading below...

FACE MASKS/REMOVERS

Mizon - Enjoy Vital-Up Time Nourishing Mask*
Masks from this brand are relatively inexpensive, usually you can find them at $2-3 each and they work really well - I would definitely repurchase this as it really hydrated my skin.

Flawless by Friday 15 Minute Rescue Gold Mask with Honey & Gold*
This is a luxury mask, be forewarned, it is $65 for 3 of them - do they work? you bet they do! You feel like an absolute queen after you use it, skin is plumped, hydrated and glows! At $21 a piece, I only use this before a special occasion.

Garnier - Skin Active+ Purifying Remover for Oily Skin*
I liked this, it worked well but there are other products out there that are better. If this was on sale, I'd repurchase it but honestly I would just buy other ones to try out if it wasn't on sale. This works well as an after the gym refresher or to remove just make-up from the face. It's not that effective for eye makeup, liner or mascara so I wouldn't use it for that purpose.

FOUNDATION / PRIMER

Giorgio Armani Prima - Day Long Skin Perfector
This primer is luxury in a bottle, seriously - it is about $115 and I bought it because of Glam Life Guru (Tati) on Youtube. Does it work? Yes. Is it worth $115? Maybe, Maybe Not - it depends on your personal budget. This works as a primer and moisturizer to mattify the skin and keep your sebum control at bay. This also gives a slight tightening effect and I love it!

Maybelline - Hydrate + Smooth Foundation
This foundation was okay, for my combination skin though it made my T-Zone quite oily after 3-4 hours and I had to blot alot. It looks amazing right when you put it on, or for photos, but I wouldn't buy it again only because it doesn't quite mesh with my combo skin.

Milani - Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer
This is one of the better drugstore foundations I've tried. It smells slightly sweet, it is a medium to buildable full coverage and is a really good dupe of the Clinique Beyond Perfecting foundation. Make sure you do set your oily prone areas if you want a full day's wear. I would repurchase this for sure.

CONCEALERS

Maybelline - Dream Brightening Creamy Concealer
This product... I don't know... I am not impressed by it at all. First of all, it smelled like a crayon, I couldn't really stand it - the scent didn't dissipate at all with wear. It was chalky, didn't glide on buttery smooth and didn't cover much. It just wasn't worth it enough for me to endure the scent I guess as it really didn't perform. As I remember it was close to $10 too at the drugstore which is quite pricey!

L.A.Girl - Pro Conceal - Toast
This is one of the best products at a drugstore price, these are under $5 and offer medium to full coverage with no scent. I love this! It doesn't crease, it's pigmented and it just works! I bought this color to bronze/contour and works like a dream. I will definitely repurchase.

MAC - Prep + Prime Hilighter
I used to love this, it reminded me of the lower end price version of the Touche Eclat. I don't know, it works well to highlight and since I purchased this a few years back, they have come out with a few new colors. I liked this, but probably won't repurchase it as I want to try other products.

Sephora - Bright Future Gel-Serum Concealer
Love this product and will repurchase. It spreads evenly and smoothly, it has a nice consistency and offers medium coverage with a gel texture that doesn't crease. It hydrates your undereye and covers the panda circles.

Bobbi Brown - Tinted Eye Brightener
I really liked this, but due to the price I might not repurchase this again. If I was to repurchase anything from Bobbi, it would be the cream pot correcter, no one makes em like those - if any of you know of one, please let me know I'd love to try it!

Joe Fresh - Long Wear Spot Concealer
This was okay, wouldn't repurchase it. It was a bit too thick for me and creased. It was medium coverage and just works well as a spot concealer over pimples vs. an undereye concealer type product (as the name of the product suggests)

BROW PRODUCTS/MASCARA

Annabelle - Brow Show
Love the thick fibrous short brush wand - it works well to build texture to the brow and it is one of the best drugstore brands I've tried for brows. The texture is great, not too wet or dry and just works.

GOSH - Brow Sculpting Fibre Gel
The brush wand of this product is really teeny tiny, it would work well if the formulation was right, it was just too wet. It was hard to get it to stay on the brows, it kinda moved around and got a bit messy. I wouldn't repurchase this, I really hope they reformulate it as the brush is perfect!

GOSH - Lash Sculpting Fibre Mascara
Loved this mascara and yes I'll repurchase. It works to volumize and lengthen the lashes. The brush separates it properly and it just works!

LIP PRODUCTS

Rimmel - Apocalips
Loved this, the wand was really innovative, it has a little concave area in the doe foot applicator to house the lip product so that you only need one swipe to deliver product everywhere.

Illamasqua - Faust
Illamasqua products are great, I really wish they never left Canada :( since they left, I haven't been able to repurchase their products and I'm so sad. This lipstick is one of the first formulations of matte lipstick I've tried that was matte, but buttery and weightless. It was pigmented and gorgeous. If I can get my hands on Illmasqua products again, I'd definitely buy it.

Gerrard Cosmetics - Color Your Smile in Coral Craze and Candy Apple
I bought these products when they were all over YouTube. I admit I fell into the hype of it and bought it and yeah, never again. I didn't like these at all. the built in light on the cap was quite useless, if you actually tried to use it, the lighting casted a weird shadow on your face so you really didn't quite know if you were within the lines. It was super sticky, and a bit patchy when you tried to go over it a few times to get the proper color deposit. It was super glossy though, but yeah, I would not repurchase this again.

First Aid Beauty - Ultra Repair Lip Therapy
I bought this during the winter when my lips were so chapped and peeling chunks. This was great! It was weightless, scentless and just worked to repair the lips. Will repurchase again.

QUO - Lip Gloss
LOVE this product, will repurchase if I can find it again. It came limited edition, but it gave a beautiful sheen and is weightless and has a beautiful scent.

LASH PRIMER

Estee Lauder - Little Black Primer
Loved this! I was sent this for review last year, and I have repurchased it already. It works wonders and I love the drier formula that hugs each individual lash. The primer is also really innovative as it is a black primer so unlike the traditional white ones, you don't have to spend alot of time hiding it.

Pixi - Black Lacquer Lash Primer
Although this product is cheaper than the Estee one listed above, it is not half as good. This formula was really wet, so I didn't find that it actually coated my lashes effectively. It ended up smudging easily and just wasn't as good.

Smashbox - Photo Finish Lash Primer
This formula is unlike the two above. This primer is white and thick/wet - it gives you volume vs. length so if you're looking for that then this would be for you. I personally prefer length and separation so I will not be repurchasing this.

EYELINERS

I am personally not even a fan of pencil liners. and this is by no exception. I gave Arbonne products a good amount of trial time, trying out their different products but none of them really made an impression on me to make me say yes, I want to try it again or different things.

The brush on this liner is really long, thin and stiff so while it was really nice to use this for the inner corner of the liner, it was hard to navigate properly on the lash line without pressing too hard on it and having the brush flip the other way and backwards.

This is ultra pigmented, a great electric blue liquid liner with a nice tip for application. Would definitely repurchase.

FACE/BODY/HAIR

Love this product and the value of it. It works amazingly to hydrate your skin, even if you have eczema. It's lightweight, cleanses effectively and doesn't leave any residue on you or in the shower. Will repurchase for usre.

Great product for oily or acne prone skin. It doesn't dry out your skin, but keeps you roil production at bay. Will definitely repurchase.

I have used this product over and over again, and will continue to do so. It is the only shampoo I have used so far that doesn't dry out my hair, does not make me lose too much hair and helps it grow faster. I have a backup of both already and an extra 1L bottle of shampoo on standby. Thats how much I love it.

I used to love this product, until I realized that it caused so much hair loss. It has alot of residue that gets built up on your scalp and when I scratch it, it gets under the nails - gross I know, but you can just see how much product is really built on. So no, I will not be repurchasing this unfortunately.

I loved this product alot - it has a super fine mist that offers the perfect product delivery and keeps you hydrated. Your skin looks plump and youthful.

MISC.

I will continuously repurchase these products from Saje - I have written a few posts about Saje products already so if you're interested in reading more about my thoughts, just search my blog :)

What have been some of your empties so far? And have you tried any of the products listed above? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Until next time, XO - M.
