Due to such a busy last few weeks, my make-up routine has been very minimal - I haven't been experimenting with any looks or colors, except for when I used that Serpentina Palette. Other than that, it's been foundation, concealer, liner, blush. Very rarely did I even have the energy to pop on some mascara - hah! Don't judge me!
Since my make-up routine was so minimal, it was a good time to try out some new foundations and bases/primers. to read my thoughts on them - please continue reading below!
This month's favorites include:
1. Estee Lauder - Perfectionist Youth Infusing Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 25 (3W1 - Tawny)
2. Essence Pure Nude Hiligher
3. Essence - For-bidden Volume Mascara
4. Stila - Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector (medium)
5. Clinique - Pep-Start Hydroblur Moisturizer
6. Stila - Stay all day bronzer for face and body (medium)
7. Burberry - Cameo Blush
8. Make Up For Ever - Artist Rouge Lipstick (C211)
The Clinique Hydroblur delivers exceptional hydration with a bit of blurring property - I quite enjoyed using this to substitute for primer as well. It is reminiscent of my favorite Smashbox Blurring primer (the purple one) mixed with moisturizer - so if you're not a fan of that texture, you might not like this one. I however, love it so I've been using this quite alot this month - you only need a very little bit as it goes a long way - one dab with your finger can cover your face.
What I've been using the most is the Stila Putty afterwards - for such a small and compact product, it sure isn't getting the attention it deserves. It is quite amazing, delivers sheer to medium buildable coverage and leaves your skin looking airbrushed. In addition, it leaves your skin feeling satiny smooth. I will be sure to re-purchase this as well it is perfect for travel.
The Stila Bronzer delivers a beautiful sun-kissed glow to the skin, without leaving an orange oompa-loompa cast on the skin. With that, I like to use the Essence hilighter - if you can pick this up, you must - before it's sold out as Essence tends to sell out rather fast and they may not bring it back sometimes. On weekends, I rarely like to wear eyeliner, so this Essence Forbidden Volume Mascara has been a godsend! I swear, drugstore mascaras have really been stepping up their game lately and they have been outperforming the luxury mascaras in my books. I get sky high lashes with this mascara, as well as volume so I will repurchsae this as well.
Lastly, near the end of August I have been leaning towards the mauvey rose wood pink colors in my blush and lipstick. The Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge lipsticks have been reformulated and are buttery smooth and delivers a pack of color with one swipe. I will be posting a swatch post soon! Pictures have been taken, just need to write the post. The Burberry blush is beautiful, love the natural flush of color it delivers however there is just a slight perfume that is a tad strong for me. I have yet to find a similar color that I love as much as this one, so since the scent fades after a while, I have been wearing it everyday since.
What have been some of your august favorites?
Until next time, XO - M.
