I had recently been sent a few different lip products from Sephora to try out, and I thought that it would be a great opportunity to do a lip swatch post since my last one I did a while back (the Marc Jacobs set) did really well. These lipsticks are high quality and to be honest, I was very surprised. Usually when I go to Sephora, I always grab a brand that they carry and rarely go for the Sephora in-house brand. After being sent a variety of these lipstick to try, I really think it's time to re-think things!
They have really been stepping up the game in terms of coming up with innovative products that other brands may not have done yet, or they carry a bigger range of it. For e.g. the airflash foundation that Dior carries, Sephora actually carries a primer version, more colors, bronzer and blush (all in the aerosol can version). Or, the gel concealer that I have been loving for the last few months has a consistency that is quite different from what other brands have done.
1. Rouge Balm - Gentle Coral - $15.50 Cad:
Protects your lips with Yuzu extract and Vitamin E derivative. It is pigmented and leaves a beautiful glossy finish to your lips. I loved the bold pop of color and how creaminess this is.
2. Rouge Shine Lipstick - Royal Wedding - $15.50 Cad -
The Hydra-Comfort complex blend of moisturizing oils and antioxidant Vit E gives you plump hydrated lips and nourishes it while protecting them. I found the color to be a bit sheer but build-able without looking gooey.
3. Rouge Shine Lipstick - Miss You
Formula is like Royal Wedding - This is the type of color that I naturally graviate to. A light nude mauve pink color.
4. Rouge Shine Lipstick - A-Lister
Is a brighter pink with a metallic hue - not really a fan of anything with a metallic sheen/finish to it, but it was fine enough that it wasn't chunky glitter or too obvious.
5. Rouge Cream Lipstick -Lucky One - $15 Cad
Aagin, another color that I gravitate towards, a pink nudey color. This formula, as the name suggests is creamy and pigmented.
6. Wonderful Cushion Matte Lip-Cream - Wonderful Red - $10 Cad
Although I love the matte, stain-like quality of this lip product, I wouldn't say that this is too "cushion" like. I have tried cushion products before, and thought that it was be a softer applicator, like a sponge. However, this one is really firm and the round tip made it harder to have a precise application on the lips. I do love the color, however I think the top applicator should change a bit.
With the abundance of lipsticks from different brands that Sephora carries, some of you avid beauty fans may know that they can start from $20 and can go up to even $45-50 per lipstick. Sephora's own personal brand carries a huge range of lipsticks, stains and glosses that come in a multitude of formulas and colors.
The likelihood of you finding a dupe, or a close match to something you are looking for from a pricier brand is quite large. Therefore, the next time you have your heart set on something, try to see if you can find it from the Sephora brand first.
