How I Maintain my Balayage at Home*

Near the end of 2018, I decided to balayage my hair - with it, I knew would come alot of upkeep (especially since I am a brunette) and so began my journey in finding the products that I know would work for me. I think that I have narrowed it down to my tried and true so far, so if you're interested in knowing what they are, then keep on reading below.

SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER
1. Joico - Blonde Life Brightening Shampoo* - I use this shampoo primarily when I wash my hair as it helps to keep my blonde parts bright. Once a week though, as maintenance to keep the brassy tones out of my hair, I like to use the below item.

2. Amika - Bust Your Brass Shampoo - This stuff is magic in a bottle. It's actually purple toned shampoo that really does help take the brassiness out of your hair. I notice it immediately and while it's not perfect, it really helps me maintain the balayage tone at home without having to frequent the salon as often. I will continuously repurchase this and even recommend it to my friends and family.

3. L'Oreal - Absolut Repair (Lipidum) Hair Mask - Having balayaged my hair, I do feel that it is a bit more damaged and dry than before (even though I did dye my hair brown before because of all my greys). I use a hair mask as a conditioner actually, and it has been keeping my hair healthier - even my hairdresser told me my hair isn't as damaged as she was expecting from similar clients she has had. I use a dime size amount each time.

MAINTENANCE:
JOICO - Blonde Life Brilliant Tone Violet Smoothing Foam* - Like the above purple shampoo I mentioned, this purple foam also helps keep the brassiness away. I use this on the day I wash my hair with the purple shampoo and the duo together is my secret in keeping my hair great!

STYLING:
1. Pureology - Colour Fanatic Multi-Tasking Hair Beautifier - This is my holy grail, I have repurchased this countless times in the past. It has 21 uses - you can click the link to read and learn all about it. However, the fragrance of this is fantastic, in addition to it being a great detangler and hair conditioner etc. This stuff is magic in a bottle. It's pricey but so worth it!

2. Live Clean - Exotic Nectar Argan Oil Leave-In Conditioner Spray* - If you are looking more for a budget friendly option, I would suggest this product that is readily available at all drugstores. It is a leave in conditioner for the hair and just works to provide some extra hydration before styling. It also smells wonderful. Make sure you shake it before use and spray it at the ends of your hair.

3. Shu Uemura - Wonder Worker* - This product is another hair protector, detangler option for you. It helps keep your hair frizz-free after blow drying and is said to also help dry your hair faster!

FINISHING / REPAIRING:
1. Joico - Blonde Life Glow Brightening Oil* - After blow drying my hair, I like to just seal the ends of my hair with this oil. It just helps make the look complete and finish it off. This adds a nice gloss shine look to my hair without weighing it down or making it oily.

2. MONAT - Rejuvabeads* - I started using this a month ago and wow, it helps to combat your split ends. Literally. Apply this to a split end and you will see the two strands become one and stay put. It is fantastic and has helped my dry ends that felt all over the place and like hay in the beginning more sleek and managed.

DRY SHAMPOO:
Amika - Perk Up Dry Shampoo - This is another holy grail for me, I've been through bottles of this and also have a backup in my cabinet. This is the dry shampoo I swear by because it works and also the scent is a bonus.

What are your tried and true products to help maintain a balayage at home? Have you tried any of these items out? I'd love to hear from you!

Until next time, XO - M.
