Review: Dermalogica Barrier Defense Booster and Ultra Calming Water Gel*

Dermalogica recently had an event in Toronto celebrating the launch of their two new products, featured here on the blog. Unfortunately, I was unable to make it being a new mom and on mommy duty, however the Dermalogica team was nice enough to pass along the products for my review and consideration on the blog.

The two new products launched are: 1) Barrier Defense Booster - $101 cad and 2) Calm Water Gel - $65 cad. Both of these products are created to target hydration, but in different ways. One is a liquid moisturizer while the other is the form of an oil.

The Barrier Defense Booster, as mentioned above is a concentrated oil formula that works to soothe and moisturize the skin. It contains a Triple Defense Complex that "nourishes the skin, relieves dryness and reinforces barrier integrity against future irritation". You can use it alone, or mixed in with your moisturizer. Already being a fan of oils, I really enjoyed using this product as I really felt that it offered great hydration against the colder months. To use, take a few drops and pat it on your face, neck and chest (if desired). You can use it twice a day, however I use this only at night to let it work its magic while I sleep :)

On the other hand, we have the Calm Water Gel that is the opposite in texture to that of the Barrier Booster. This is a weightless, water-like gel texture that works to hydrate the skin (even for those who are sensitive). For those who have been long-time followers of the blog, will know that I am a lover of Hyaluronic Acid, which is a component in this product - it works to help lock-in moisture on the skin. It also contains Apple Fruit Extract and Glycerin to hydrate and soften the skin while protecting it from dryness. To use this product, you will have to squeeze a dime size product on your palm and rub it together first to activate it. Then you gently pat it on your face and neck. It says to use this twice a day, but I use this in the mornings and as you can guess, the Barrier Booster at night.

Both products are Gluten-Free, Vegan, No artificial fragrances or colors, paraben-free and cruelty free.

Until next time, XO - M.
