One of the very first make-up brands that I spent my paycheques on in my my teens was MAC Cosmetics. I remember allowing myeslf  to get either a lipstick or a blush every so often, and MAC Studio Fix Powder was my go-to. Back then, it was save 5 empty MAC containers and get one free lipstick, so I only used the Studio Fix Powder. Funny story, I was at my parents a few months ago, going through some of my old stuff, and was about to throw away a cosmetics bag when I found about 6 of the Studio Fix Powder Compacts. *jackpot!* I immediately went to trade it in for a free lipstick - haha.

Anyways, after quite a long intro, what I wanted to say was when I (my blog) finally had the chance to work with MAC Cosmetics, I was so excited to be able to work with one of the very first brands I fell in love with.
I was sent a PR package featuring some shadows and lippies, but I wanted to focus this post (my very first MAC-focused post) on the lipsticks. The best way to do so, would be to do a swatch post (both on my arm and on my lips). My skin tone is a NW 30 (now that it's summer, winter I'm a NW 25).

For the three formulas sent - Matte, Lustre and Amplified, I found them all to be very smooth in consistency and pigmented - it did not drag or skip when applied. What I love about these lipsticks that were sent, was that I was sent products I might not necessarily have bought myself. It allows me to experiment and get out of my comfort zone, and realize that I can wear a dark blue and not look totally crazy.

My favorite color is "Aim for Gorgeous" - it's what I naturally gravitate to.
An unexpected color I found myself really quite enjoying is "Stylist's Tip", a purple. and a fresh summer take would be "Sweet Venom".

Since "Pressed & Play" is a Lustre and it is a "wetter" or creamier product, I find it to settle into lines more. So make sure you have exfoliated your lips or it will settle onto dry patches. "Lust Extract", required a few good swipes to make sure the color distribution was even, unlike "Breathing Fire", "Stylist's Tip", "Sweet Venom" and "Aim for Gorgeous".

If you are looking at purchasing any of these lipsticks, I hope that my swatches are able to help you out :) If not, maybe this will inspire you to go out and pick up a color you never thought you could wear and totally own it :)

Until next time, XO - M.

CND Rescue Kit Review *

CND Vinylux, CND Rescue Kit, CND Desert Poppy, CND Date night, CND Lavender Lace, CND Be Demure, CND RescueRX, CND Koala Buffer, CND Cuticle Eraser, CND Solar Oil, Canadian Beauty Blog, Canadian Beauty Blogger, Toronto Blogger, Beauty Blog.

For those who have followed my blog for a while, and/or know me will know that I am a big lover of CND products - especially the CND Vinylux polishes. I have been raving about them and have quite a few of them in my collection. I was sent the CND Rescue Kit recently and the contents inside took my love for CND to another level - I got to try out a few things I've never used before, and it did not disappoint.

The picture below shows the nail treatment contents, and includes:
1. Cuticle Eraser - is a gel like product that naturally helps to exfoliate your cuticles while conditioning it. This means you will not have to scrape and trim the cuticles yourself (as I've tried it before, and always end up hurting my cuticles on my non-dominant hand). With this product, you simply squeeze a small drop on each cuticle and gently massage it in).
2. Scrub Fresh - Think of this as a cleanser and disinfects to prep your nail for polish application.

3. Solar Oil -This is a gem, and if you were to get anything - I would highly recommend this. This cuticle oil is infused with jojoba oil and vitamin E. It is really moisturizing and helps your nails to stay stronger, and your cuticles won't be dry and crusty.
4. Rescue Rx - Daily Keratin Treatment - This paired with the Solar Oil is a dynamic duo. This helps to strengthen your nail, and you apply it everyday to help reduce the white spots you may see on your nails sometimes, split nails (peeling), or breakage. This contains Keratin protein and jojoba oil.

5. Koala Buffer (not pictured below - but in the box, as featured above) - This product was okay, it's just like any nail buffer and I didn't think it was anything mind-blowing.

Sephora Lip Swatches & Review*

Sephora Gentle Coral, Sephora Royal Wedding, Sephora Miss You, Sephora A-Lister, Sephora - Lucky One, Sephora Wonderful Red, Canadian Blogger, beauty blogger, lip swatches

I had recently been sent a few different lip products from Sephora to try out, and I thought that it would be a great opportunity to do a lip swatch post since my last one I did a while back (the Marc Jacobs set) did really well. These lipsticks are high quality and to be honest, I was very surprised. Usually when I go to Sephora, I always grab a brand that they carry and rarely go for the Sephora in-house brand. After being sent a variety of these lipstick to try, I really think it's time to re-think things!

They have really been stepping up the game in terms of coming up with innovative products that other brands may not have done yet, or they carry a bigger range of it. For e.g. the airflash foundation that Dior carries, Sephora actually carries a primer version, more colors, bronzer and blush (all in the aerosol can version). Or, the gel concealer that I have been loving for the last few months has a consistency that is quite different from what other brands have done.

Arbonne Canada - Spring 2016 New Releases*

A few weeks ago, I was contacted to test out and review some of the new Spring 2016 launches from Arbonne. To be honest, I have only had one experience with them in the past, and I wasn't too much of a fan of the lip product I was sent to try - You can read my review here. Their products are rather expensive for what you are getting, for example, the eyeshadow duo below is $50, that is rather high - $25 per shadow. It is very comparable to high-end luxury brand pricing, so for that price, I would expect it to behave and work the same.

May - June 2016 Misses & Empties

These 2 months may make it seem like I finished alot of product, however, alot of them are misses which I could not be bothered to continue to use up. I am currently doing a massive clean-up of make-up, skincare and all other personal items so I'm just making the firm decision to either throw away or use up. Keep on reading below to see what made it to my misses list and what I will repurchase.

DryBar product review*

Drybar is a salon that exclusively offers customers blowouts, no cutting or coloring. They specialize in professionally styling your hair leaving it fabulous and looking beautiful. At the same time, it would make sense that they have also developed their own products and hair styling tools. I was offered a chance to try some of the products out, so please see below for my thoughts and views are:

Texas Tea - Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner ($30 cad each)
For those of you who have been following my blog, you will know that my primary concern is fullness and volume for my hair. I grow my hair really quickly, however I lack the density that I desire. The Texas Tea duo addresses my concerns and aims to provide instant body, volume and fullness for people with fine to medium hair. The duo is formulated with cotton extract to protect and smooth hair out. It is a cruelty-free product and is not tested on animals. It is also safe to use on color or keratin treated hair. Lastly, it is formulated without parabens, sulfates or phthalates.

Caprina - Canus Goat's Milk Skin Care Products*

I know it sounds so silly, but as much as I love trying out new beauty products - I have for some reason, never tried Caprina items. Maybe it's the fact that I've always associated Goat's Milk products to really smell like Goat's Milk? Or maybe it's because I always used to see my grandma use it, and I would think - oh maybe it's not for me - but after I had the chance to try out a range of the products, I have to say "Why did it take me so long?!" This is a true example of "don't knock it til you try it"! I am now hooked on some of the products that I've been sent to try and I'll tell you more about it below.

Sephora Formula X Nail Polish - Review & Swatch*

Formula X - The Fix is a 5-in-1 nail treatment that is formulated to brighten, strengthen, correct, protect and smooth which as a result gives you more beautiful nails - all in one step/swipe.

Formulated without: Parabens, Sulfates, and Phthalates.

Thoughts:
Love the concept of this - I have often used treatment polishes and have used them either on its own, or as a base coat. The polish looks like there is a light pink pearl finish, however when actually applied on the nail, it does not show up. It acts as a buffer to trick the eye into seeing that the nails are in a healthy shiny condition.

b.liv skincare ft. off with those heads and others*

"b·liv is an easy-to-use and affordable personal skincare regiment formulated to tackle the most severe and stubborn blackheads, whiteheads, and large pores. The company offers a 14-day, no questions-asked, money-back guarantee to all its consumers. As such, you can believe the level of confidence that b.liv has in its own range of  product offerings."

I was sent the products in the above picture to test out and review, and I'm sure all of you know by now that I am one to NEVER turn down any new skincare products. I was sent two types of face masks to try - a hydrating one (Utmost Moisture "Immerse Me") and an invigorating one (Revival "Feel no sluggish"). In addition, I was sent Shrink and Tighten, a large pore reducing serum and Off with Those Heads, a blackheads sebum gel. Below, I will run through my thoughts of each of the products I have tested, and what my thoughts are.

eva-nyc is Coming Soon To Costco Canada!*

Eva-Nyc is a haircare brand headquartered in Brooklyn, NY. I think my first experience with them was through Ipsy, a monthly beauty subscription service. When I was contacted by the marketing team to test out some products as they are going to start being carried in Costco Canada locations, I couldn't say no.

I had previously tried their dry shampoo before and it was a pleasant experience - it didn't over texturize my hair, leaving it matted and hard to comb through. It was soft, and did an effective job soaking up the gunk and oil from my roots.
